Thurs. Pa. wrestling: Wood, Boyertown take down C.R. North

Jordan Wood continued his dominant season as the Boyertown freshman moved up to heavyweight on Thursday night to help the Bears tackle Council Rock North, 36-28, at Methacton in the second round of the District 1 Class AAA wrestling duals.
Wood, who is 27-1 this season and wrestles mostly at 220 pounds, needed just 35 seconds to pin James Dutrow in the match's second bout.
The Bears won three straight matches to erase a late four-point deficit. Gregg Harvey pulled out a 4-3 decision at 160 pounds, Cody Richmond recorded a 5-minute, 35-second pin at 170, and Michael Fretz rolled to a 3:41 fall at 182.
Also in the second round, Luke Johnson and Mason Houriet recorded back-to-back pins as Pennsbury downed Upper Darby, 37-25. Johnson recorded his fall in 3:42 at 220 pounds, and Houriet pinned in 4:45 at heavyweight.
In the first round, Tyler Callender captured a 1:43 pin at 220 pounds as C.R. North eased past Ridley, 44-21. John Dutrow added a first-period pin at 113, and Matt O'Neill won by major decision at 182.
In other district duals:
Mike McClelland pinned in 1:11 at 220 pounds and Downingtown West captured six of the last seven bouts to down host West Chester Rustin, 49-18 in the first round. Covey Austin added a 6-0 decision at heavyweight, and Troy Smith recorded an 11-second fall at 106.
Downingtown West went on to beat Norristown, 43-33, in the second round.
Patrick Bohn won by technical fall at 138 pounds to trigger Pottstown's 37-24 win over Interboro in the first round at Rustin. Logan Pennypacker added a 3-1 decision at 106, and Jordan Eckstrom pinned at 170.
Public. Ahmad Ibrahim's second-period pin at 106 pounds triggered Northeast's 55-11 win over visiting Washington in the league semifinals.
The Vikings captured the last eight bouts, including Hakeem Coles' 3-1 decision at 152. Pablo Luna added a major decision at 113, and Davon Clark pinned at 145.
With the win, Northeast advances to the final and will meet the winner of Central and Mariana Bracetti on Wednesday night.
Central. Scott Christy needed just 40 seconds to record a pin at 106 pounds, and Conestoga rolled past host Haverford High, 43-27. Kevin Zhao added a pin at 120, and Michael Sklar won by fall at 126.
Tom Meyers scored a major decision at 145 pounds to start Radnor's 45-18 win over visiting Strath Haven. Addison Hanson added a decision at 152 pounds, Austin Taylor cruised to an 8-3 decision at 160, and Kyle Gentner rolled to a major decision at 170.
