Thurs. Pa. girls' roundup: Strath Haven clinches Central League

Glassford opened the scoring in the 12th minute on a breakaway.

Both teams struggled after Glassford's score, until she found teammate Kristen Miller for an insurance goal in the 77th minute. Krissy Welsh needed only three saves to earn the shutout.

The Panthers improved to 10-0 in league play and 14-0 overall.

Also in the Central League, Holly Nicolardi scored in each half to lead host Marple Newtown to a 5-1 win over Ridley.

Catholic Academies. Freshman Bridget Galen volleyed home a goal in the 67th minute to lift Villa Joseph Marie to a 1-0 home win over St. Basil.

Maggie Cameron found the net for a second time with a strike from 20 yards as Gwynedd-Mercy took down host Merion Mercy, 3-1.

Ches-Mont. Caroline Miller ran down a ball that was lofted over the last line of defenders and converted a breakaway to give Unionville a 1-0 win over visiting Downingtown East.

Catholic. Both teams remained undefeated in league play as Archbishop Wood and Archbishop Ryan battled to a 1-1 draw through two overtimes.

The Vikings' Laura Romano tied the game two minutes into the second half.

Public. Katrine Metelkova recorded a hat trick in Washington's 7-0 victory at Frankford.

Suburban One. Gabby Farrell's cross found its way into the back of the net with seconds remaining in overtime to lift host Neshaminy to a 2-1 win over Council Rock South.

Nonleague. Rachel Gilborges scored twice and added an assist as Franklin Towne Charter won, 4-2, at Abington Friends.

Field Hockey

Senior Caroline Cunningham scored a game-high four goals as Radnor eased past visiting Penncrest, 11-1, in the Central League. Cunningham scored three first-half goals in a 10-minute span and added the Red Raiders' last score.

Teammate Sydney Cowels recorded two goals and helped with three assists in the win.

In other league action, Karla DiPietro scored what proved to be the game-winner just two minutes in as host Conestoga blanked Garnet Valley, 2-0.

Public. Victoria Barraza had a goal and an assist in Washington's 3-0 home win over Northeast.

Pioneer. Allie Torrisi rattled the cage twice in Methacton's 5-1 over visiting Boyertown.

Ches-Mont. Makenna Colby notched two scores to propel host Downingtown West to a 4-0 victory over Bishop Shanahan.

Friends Schools. Senior Carlotte Wagner scored in the final minute of the first half to give Westtown a 1-0 win over visiting Moorestown Friends.
