Sat. Pa. track roundup: Records tumble at Coatesville

Strath Haven's Wellington Zaza set a pair of meet records, topping many outstanding performances turned in at the 42d annual TFCAGP Spring Track Invitational on Saturday at Coatesville.

Zaza beat standout teammate Chris Williams to the finish line in the 110-meter hurdles with a record time of 14.24 seconds, and also triple jumped 47 feet, 3 inches to eclipse the seven-year old meet record by 111/2 inches.

In other highlights, Upper Moreland's Drew Magaha shattered the meet record in the 800 by 5.16 seconds with a 1:51.74 clocking, and Chestnut Hill's Dustin Wilson won the 1,600 in a record time of 4:17.44, lowering the mark by 6.66 seconds.

Eric Futch of Penn Wood, who saw Zaza beat his record in the high hurdles, broke his own mark in the 300 hurdles with a 37.31-second effort and also won the 200 in 21.88.

Other records were set by Malvern Prep high jumper Tom Pitt (6-6), Cheltenham long jumper Harley LaCroix (22-83/4), Upper Darby shot putter Praduman Singh (56-8), and Downingtown East's Ryan Hart in the discus (171-3).

Haverford High's Brandon Waller launched the javelin 202 feet, 3 inches to win by a 33-foot margin.

Viking Invitational. Owen J. Roberts' Holly Sullivan set two meet records in the sprints, and Methacton's Seline Tan-Torres had a pair of gold-medal efforts, including one record, in the girls' competition at the fifth annual Viking Invitational at Perkiomen Valley.

Sullivan sped to record times of 25.69 in the 200 meters and 57.01 in the 400, while Tan-Torres broke her own meet record in the 800 with a 2:15.43 clocking and won the 300 hurdles in 45.74.

Methacton's Jenny Martin won the 100 hurdles (15.14) and long jump (17-2).

In the boys' events, Father Judge's Ian McGinnis broke the meet record in the discus by 15 feet, 3 inches with a 168-2 performance and also won the shot put (49-91/2).

Perkiomen Valley's Ryan Heimbach took two gold medals, winning the hurdles events in 15.12 and 40.66.

Lady Skins Invitational. North Penn's Meghan McGovern broke the 5-minute mark in winning the 1,600 meters, but lost a battle in the 800 to Pennsbury's Sara Sargent at the sixth annual meet for girls at Neshaminy.

McGovern won the 1,600 in a meet-record time of 4:59.27, and Sargent took the 800 in 2:16.24.

Springside sprinter Katelyn Jackson won the 100 (12.25) and 200 (25.19) dashes, North Penn's Sydnee Jacques broke the meet record in the triple jump (36-81/2), Pennsbury set a record of 9:25.62 in the 4x800 relay, and Germantown Academy's Megan McCloskey high jumped 5-6.

Bensalem Invitational. Council Rock North's Paul Wahlman and Archbishop Ryan's Tyrek Edwards each went home from the second annual boys' meet at Bensalem with two gold medals.

Wahlman prevailed in the hurdles races with times of 15.57 and 38.87, and Edwards dominated the jumps with a 21-2 long jump and a 43-8 triple jump.

Pennsbury's Connor Harriman hurried to a time of 4:18.79 in winning the 1,600, Bensalem's Seyram Avakame had a solid winning effort of 147-3 in the discus, and Pennsbury won both the 4x100 (42.92) and 4x400 relays (3:27.21).

Hurricane Classic. Upper Dublin freshman Nicole Burke scored victories in the 200 meters with a time of 25.33 seconds and the 400 with a 58.10 clocking in the 12th annual girls' meet at Villa Maria.

Taylor Morgan of Upper Dublin cleared 5 feet, 6 inches for a meet record in the high jump.
