Wed. Pa. boys' roundup: Octorara defeats Unionville

Octorara rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and walked off with an 8-7 win over visiting Unionville in a Ches-Mont League baseball game on Wednesday.

Unionville had entered the last inning with an apparently comfortable 7-4 lead. Doug Fisher capped the comeback with a game-winning, one-out single. He finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

J.R. McArdle went 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs.

In other Ches-Mont action, Bill Vandergrift struck out 12 in a complete game as Sun Valley blanked visiting Kennett, 3-0. Anthony Okoorian went 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Suburban One. Kris Carr scored the winning run on an error and Abington edged visiting Council Rock North, 4-3. Carr reached third base on a sacrifice bunt after he singled and stole second. Chris Ruhle's attempted suicide squeeze turned into a throwing error, and Carr scored easily.

Leadoff hitter Austin DiBonaventure drove in three runs and sparked Plymouth Whitemarsh to a 7-3 win over visiting Norristown. Teddy Slagle posted the win with four strikeouts.

Robert Knox went 4 for 4 and drove in four runs as Upper Moreland rocked visiting Wissahickon, 13-1.

Bicentennial. Mike Kyne went 4 for 4 and slugged a pair of homers to help Delco Christian roll at Morrisville, 14-4. Kyne had seven RBIs, including a grand slam and a three-run homer.

Public. Edison found its offense at the right time as the Owls scored six times in the top of the seventh to edge host Washington, 11-10. The visitors trailed, 10-4, after six innings. Frankie Gonzalez led the way for Edison with two hits, two runs, and three RBIs.

Jacob Nelson's infield hit was misplayed and allowed the winning run to score as host Masterman topped Franklin Towne Charter, 7-6. Josh Godbolt went 2 for 4 with five RBIs.

Pioneer. Anthony Santoleri hit a walkoff RBI double as Methacton edged visiting Owen J. Roberts, 10-9. He finished with two hits and two RBIs.

Catholic. Jim Haley's go-ahead RBI in the top of the seventh proved to be the winner as Monsignor Bonner edged host Archbishop Ryan, 7-6. Frank Saviski went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

Nonleague. Steve Dengler's three hits and three RBIs helped lift Archbishop Carroll over host Episcopal Academy, 10-3. The junior finished 3 for 5, and sophomore Joey DiWilliams added a pair of runs. Matt Lafferty posted the win with four strikeouts in five innings.

Head coach Paul Bogosian picked up his 250th career win and Dan Brogan struck out six as Haverford High turned away visiting Springfield (Delco), 8-3. Alex Barr added four RBIs and three hits, including a pair of triples.

Matt Galetta went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and two RBIs to lead Haverford School over Shipley, 16-0. Steve Fitzgerald added three RBIs, and Tom McCarthy drove in four.

Lacrosse

Kevin Moses and Jeremy Omrod scored two goals apiece and Holy Ghost Prep needed three overtimes to knock off visiting Plymouth Whitemarsh, 8-7, in a nonleague game. Greg Price recorded 15 saves for the win.

In other nonleague action, Willie Pendleton scored three times and host Central Bucks South topped Council Rock South, 14-10. Tyler Brittin added three assists, and Ryan Kelly turned away 13 shots for the win.

Catholic. Scott Scheuerle recorded three assists and scored four times as St. Joseph's Prep rolled over visiting Father Judge, 20-1. Nick Ellis scored four times and added two assists.

Chandler Grasela and Chris Rahill netted four goals each to help Archbishop Wood ease past visiting Monsignor Bonner, 16-5. Brian Farina turned away 11 shots to seal the win.
