Tues. Pa. boys' roundup: Phelps blanks Westtown

Colon struck out 15 of the 19 batters he faced and has posted back-to-back shutouts this spring with 26 strikeouts in 11 innings and just one hit allowed.

Phelps' Cale Adams went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored.

In other nonleague action, Nick Bateman lined a two-run triple to break a sixth-inning tie and send Malvern Prep to a 9-6 triumph over visiting St. Joseph's Prep. Joe Poduslenko rapped three hits and drove in two runs.

Archbishop Wood used a 10-run fourth inning to turn a 7-1 deficit into a 12-7 win over visiting Cardinal O'Hara. Kevin Sullivan homered and Benji Abercrombie went 2 for 2 for Wood.

Neumann-Goretti's Joe Kinee pitched a 13-0 five-inning shutout at Archbishop Ryan with 10 striekouts. Jimmy Kerrigan drove in four runs.

Haverford School split a doubleheader against a pair of Ohio teams in Orlando. In a 7-2 win over Beachwood, Tom McCarthy singled, doubled and drove in two runs, but the Fords also lost, 3-2, to Seven Hills, despite Pat Valentine's two RBIs.

Nolan Kelly struck out 11 and allowed one hit in six innings, pitching Calvary Christian to an 8-0 shutout of visiting Academy of the New Church. Jesse Geisler and Mark Farley each had three hits and drove in two runs.

Bicentennial. Holy Ghost Prep snapped a 3-3 tie with a three-run fifth and beat host Lower Moreland, 8-5. Matt Kubasik singled twice for two RBIs, and Jake Connor posted the pitching win.

Devon Prep's Zach Schellenger threw six innings of an 11-0 four-hit shutout at MaST Charter. Rich Gallo had three hits and three runs scored.

Del-Val. Interboro rallied from a 6-1 deficit to jolt visiting Glen Mills, 10-6. Josh Dellipriscoli scored three runs and Kevin Huber drove in two for the Bucs.

Public. Vernon Holt dominated Strawberry Mansion's 6-3 win over visiting Freire Charter. Holt went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, stole six bases, including home twice, and also pitched a complete-game one-hitter with a dozen strikeouts.

Del-Val Charter's Charles Wright and Jelahn Williams combined for a 14-strikeout no-hitter, blanking visiting Bartram, 10-0.

Mariana Bracetti's 14-2 win at Saul included three hits by winning pitcher Jorge Quinones.

Lacrosse

Abington beat visiting Germantown Academy for the first time in 12 years, earning an 11-4 nonleague win by goalie Travis O'Connor's 22 saves, Shane Dunn's three goals, and Ryan Ambler's two goals and three ground balls.

Sophomore Tasso Karras got loose for six goals and steered Chestnut Hill past visiting Roman Catholic, 12-1.Collegium Charter's Greg Buracker made four saves, and Tim Clark notched three goals and two assists in a 10-3 win over visiting Twin Valley.

Central. Ridley goalie Tom McDermott made seven saves, and Jim Gormley and Lou Harrison each had a goal and two assists in an 8-2 win over visiting Lower Merion.

Jake Shapiro won 11 of 16 faceoffs and Mike Cherry scored four goals as Radnor whipped visiting Marple Newtown, 17-2.

Connor Frisina's five-goal game guided Conestoga past host Penncrest, 9-2.
