GA football player ends long recruiting process

Germantown Academy's Keith Corliss, who committed to Princeton's football team before an injury ended his senior season - and, he said, his chances of enrolling at the Ivy League school this fall - has committed to Johns Hopkins.

Corliss, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker and running back for GA, said he chose Hopkins over fellow Division III schools Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall and Ursinus, as well as Penn, which recruited him for wrestling. He said he will play linebacker in college.

Corliss had committed to Princeton in the fall before a stress fracture in his sternum halted his 2011 season after just two games. While Corliss was sitting out, he said, Princeton decided he should attend a private academy as a postgraduate for a year before enrolling at the university. Corliss, who has a 3.6 grade-point average, then restarted his college search.

"It was a much longer process than I had imagined or hoped for," Corliss said. "It's a really good feeling to know in the end everything worked out for me."

Corliss recovered from the injury and wrestled at 195 pounds this season for the Patriots, going 30-3, winning a Pennsylvania Independent Schools championship, and finishing fourth in the national independent tournament.
