Thurs. Pa. boys' roundup: Imhotep clinches playoff berth

Imhotep Charter secured its spot in the PIAA Class AA playoffs as the host Panthers eased past Del-Val Charter, 65-46.

The defending AA state champs will enter the playoffs as the fourth seed. Del-Val will play the winner of Devon Prep and Springfield (Montco) for the fifth seed.

Imhotep's Khyree Wooten started slow before dropping in 16 of his game-high 19 points in the second half. The 6-foot-2 senior guard knocked down all six of his foul shots. Brandon Austin chipped in with 13 points.

District 1. Josh Medvic scored six of his 14 points in the third quarter as Calvary Chrisitian rolled at Bristol, 46-28, in a Class A quaterfinal.

Tri-State Christian. Andrew Boykin's late rally wasn't enough as the Christian Academy fell at Atlantic Christian, 65-60, in the conference semifinals. Boykin scored 10 of his team-high 18 points in the fourth.

Boys' Bowling

Tommy McGuinn's 663 series lifted Roman Catholic over Archbishop Ryan, 2,914-2,827, in the Catholic League semifinals at Thunderbird Lanes.

McGuinn had the top two games for the Cahillites, as he bowled a 235 and 233. Chris Gatto led Ryan with a 246 game and 677 series.

Roman will meet Conwell-Egan in the title game on Saturday. The Eagles topped Father Judge, 2,874-2,826, at Bristol Pike Lanes.

John Murray led Conwell-Egan with a 637 series, and Dan Hoffmier bowled a 236 game. Robert Walmsley bowled a 624 series and 249 game for Judge.
