Fri. Pa. boys' roundup: A four-peat for La Salle

La Salle easily captured its fourth consecutive District 12 Class AAA team wrestling title on Friday night as it rolled over visiting Northeast, 55-21.

Freshman Andrew McLaren was an injury replacement for the Explorers at 126 pounds and picked up one of La Salle's seven pins. La Salle also received a pin from freshman Ryan Brady at 152 pounds. The Explorers won 10 of the 14 bouts.

La Salle's Kolby Stein set the tone for the match with a 18-3 technical fall over Neil Mustafa in the first bout at 138 pounds. The momentum continued with Matt Cimato's 23-7 technical fall one weight class later over Hervenz Pierre-Louis at 145 pounds.

La Salle's Anthony Pelusi recorded the quickest pin with a 32-second fall at 220 pounds over Chris Rustin.

With the win, the Explorers improved to 14-1.

District 1. Norristown strung together seven straight wins en route to dropping Spring-Ford, 41-31, in the Class AAA team semifinals at Upper Dublin.

The Eagles advanced to Saturday's final against Owen J. Roberts, which cruised past Marple Newtown, 44-13.

Norristown won five straight matches by pins between 160 and 220 pounds, before Rasheed Lusane capped off the seven-match streak with a 6-2 decision at heavyweight. Shane Springer recorded the quickest pin of the match in 1 minute, 12 seconds against the Rams' Tyler McGuigan at 182 pounds.

Demetri D'Orsaneo opened up Owen J. Roberts' win with a close 4-3 decision over Pat Callaghan at 132 pounds. The Wildcats won the first five bouts of the match and recorded three pins.

In the quarterfinals, Zach Fuentes earned an 11-2 major decision at 113 pounds to clinch Norristown's 37-31 win over Council Rock North.

After dropping four of the first five bouts, Norristown rallied to win each of the six weight classes from 160 pounds to 285 pounds. Brett Harner started the streak with a 3:19 pin of North's Eddie Mauceri.

Owen J. Roberts won by forfeit over Council Rock South.

Spring-Ford easily topped Pennsbury, 36-19, behind six straight wins from 132 pounds to 170 pounds. The Rams' Jason Dombrosky needed just 18 seconds to score a pin at 145 pounds and Kyle Surbrook posted a close 7-5 decision at 152.

Aaron Moldoff posted his 100th career win to clinch Marple Newtown's quarterfinal matchup over West Chester Rustin, 34-33. Jason Rinaldi scored a 14-0 decision at 106 over Tom Hatzipavlides

Basketball

Horace Spencer used his 6-foot-9 frame to put back an offensive rebound with 7 seconds left as visiting William Tennent downed Suburban One foe Neshaminy, 53-51.

The freshman center pulled down 10 rebounds and finished with six points.

Ryan Smith scored a game-high 21 points, thanks to his seven three-pointers.

William Tennent raced of to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter before the Redskins clawed back in the second half. Bobby Marterella dropped in 17 points to lead the hosts.

Catholic. Chris Duffin knocked down three of his four foul shots in double OT as visiting Cardinal O'Hara knocked off West Catholic, 80-75.

Mike Louden scored a team-high 21 points for the Lions and Pat Hagenbach hit three threes. Jaleel Reed had two threes and 21 points to lead West.

Christian Rivera grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 13 of her 18 points in the first half as Archbishop Ryan cruised at Lansdale Catholic, 46-34. Bryan Okolo chipped in with three three-pointers.

La Salle knocked down four three-pointers in the fourth quarter to pull away at Father Judge, 57-54. Amar Stukes scored a team-high 14 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter. Malik Robinson led Judge with 18 points.

Ja'Quan Newtown's game-high 20 points helped Neumann-Goretti roll over visiting Archbishop Wood, 64-34. The sophomore shot eight for 13 from the floor and added four steals as the Saints improved to 10-0 in league.

Inter-Ac. Tom Pitt grabbed nine rebounds and Steve Perpiglia dished out six assists as Malvern Prep cruised past visiting Chestnut Hill, 51-24.

Public. Anthony Fagan recorded 10 steals, dished out four assists and dropped in 25 points as Lamberton rolled at Bodine, 102-54.

Bicentennial. Jack Kalnes knocked down two threes as he poured in 10 points in the first quarter to help Holy Ghost Prep pull away at Devon Prep, 56-41. Kalnes finished with 17 points.

Nonleague. Eric Fanning scored nine of his game-high 25 points in the first half as Perkiomen School eased past host Abington Friends, 67-51. Montana Mayfield had 25 points and five assists for the hosts.

Ben Holl drained three three-pointers and Colin Reitman dished out nine assists as Friends Select topped visiting Renaissance Academy, 63-55.

Jay Hardy had a game-high 25 points and hit three three-pointers to help Swenson down host Lincoln, 58-45.

Two players recorded triple-doubles as Washington rolled over visiting Frankford, 74-44. Kendale Truitt had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists; while William Davis scored 22 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and recorded 11 blocks.
