Fri. Pa. boys' roundup: Robeson's Richards gets to 1,000

The senior guard finished with a game-high 23 points and is Robeson's all-time scoring leader with 1,002. Richard Lemon chipped in with 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

In other nonleague action, senior wing Quamir White scored 12 of his team-high 22 points in the first quarter as Palmer downed visiting Palumbo, 68-65.

Ahtiff Govan-Wheeler knocked down four threes as New Media Charter cruised at FitzSimons, 76-64.

William Brown had 14 points in the second half and Maritime Academy held off host Kipp Dubois Collegiate, 50-49.

Bernard Benjamin and Devon Jackson were called up from junior varsity and made an impact as host West Philadelphia downed World Communications, 63-56. Benjamin knocked down a pair of threes and Jackson grabbed eight boards.

Jeremiah Worthem grabbed 12 rebounds and Quadir Welton grabbed 10 as Math, Civics & Sciences rolled over visiting Church Farm, 70-54.

Tri-County. Eric Fanning scored his 1,000th career point in the second quarter as Perkiomen School topped visiting Mercy Vocational, 69-47. Fanning dropped 19 of his game-high 23 points in the first half.

Montverde Tournament. Shep Garner's 13 points and Secean Johnson's seven rebounds weren't enough to propel Roman Catholic past Montverde (Fla.) Academy as the Cahillites fell, 78-61. Montverde features five Division 1 recruits and is ranked No. 14 in the nation by ESPN.

Catholic. Steven Griffin scored eight of his game-high 23 points in the first quarter as Father Judge dropped host Monsignor Bonner, 52-44. Malik Robinson added 15 points for the Crusaders.

Stephen Vasturia grabbed 12 rebounds and dropped a game-high 26 points as St. Joseph's Prep rolled easily at Archbishop Ryan, 56-35. The Hawks knocked down their first 22 foul shots and finished shooting 23 for 24.

LaQuan Coaxum dished out four assists and scored 14 points as host Neumann-Goretti rocked West Catholic, 100-65. Tony Toplyn chipped in with eight rebounds.

Tommy Rush, Pat Smith, and Shane Neher combined for 20 points in the first quarter as Archbishop Wood rolled at Bishop McDevitt, 85-74. Smith finished with a team-high 22 points.

NU//Jamal Nwaniemeka grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 12 of her 30 points in the first quarter as Conwell-Egan moved past host Lansdale Catholic, 67-51.

Inter-Ac. For the second time in a week, Malvern Prep fell as the Friars lost to Haverford School, 53-50. Zach Thomas hit a layup with 15 seconds left to seal the win.

Ranked No. 6 in Southeastern Pa. by The Inquirer, Malvern won its first 15 games before losing two of its last four.

Malik Garner scored 11 of his 19 points in the second half as Chestnut Hill inched past visiting Penn Charter, 36-33.

Junior Julian Moore grabbed 16 rebounds and James Drury dished out six assists as Germantown Academy topped visiting Episcopal Academy, 52-40.

Suburban One. Tyler Katz converted 10 free throws in the fourth quarter as Neshaminy pulled away at Council Rock South, 51-38. Kats and teammate Bobby Marterella finished with 14 points to lead the Golden Hawks.

Toyon Wynder poured in 10 points in the second half and Cheltenham held off visiting Upper Merion, 45-33. Wynder finished with a team-high 18 points.

Anthony Durham grabbed seven rebounds and dropped a game-high 26 points as Abington rolled over visiting Pennsbury, 62-49.

Chase Vonder Schmalz knocked down three three-pointers en route to 13 points as Central Bucks South rolled at Quakertown, 67-45.

John DeCamara had four threes and a game-high 18 points as Upper Dublin eased past host Plymouth Whitemarsh, 63-48.

Friends Schools League. Dinjyl Walker heated up from the outside and Academy of the New Church rolled at Moorestown Friends, 74-34. Walker drained six threes and finished with a game-high 25 points.

Amile Jefferson scored nine of his game-high 26 points in the first quarter as Friends' Central held off host Shipley, 55-50. Shipley senior Chima Nwakpuda scored 15 points and is 15 points-shy of 1,000 for his career.

Villanova-bound center Daniel Ochefu dropped in a game-high 19 points as Westtown knocked off host Abington Friends, 57-37.

Bicentennial. Senior guard Mike Hutson scored a putback with 1 second left as Phil-Mont Christian topped visiting Delco Christian, 42-40. Hutson finished with a game-high 18 points.

Jeff Ainsley's eight rebounds and Tim Lazorko's six assists helped Holy Ghost Prep ease past host Springfield (Montco), 49-35.

Chad Palmer knocked down three three-pointers in the fourth quarter as Bristol pulled away from Plumstead Christian, 47-42.

Steve Kohlbrenner scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half as Devon Prep rolled at Christopher Dock, 56-49.

Central. Alex Graham knocked down six threes and finished with a game-high 23 points as Penncrest cruised at Harriton, 50-35.

Wrestling

Central and Northeast punched tickets to the Public League championship match with convincing wins.

The Lancers, led by 10 straight wins from 182 pounds to 132, downed visiting Washington, 57-12. Dylan Delaney started the streak with a 1:45 pin over Matt Lacour.

Northeast recorded three pins and turned away visiting Frankford, 37-24. Xavier Espinosa needed just 13 seconds to grab a pin at 138 pounds.

The championship match is Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at Central.

Catholic. Roman Catholic scored a tight 39-33 win over visiting Bishop McDevitt, thanks to a disqualification at 126 pounds. Jerry Gaydosh won the bout and clinched the match for the Cahillites.

Bill Sweeney added a first-period pin at 160 pounds and Brandon Hadens recorded a fall in the third period at 138 pounds.

Nonleague. Germantown Academy cruised to two victories behind a combined 13 pins. The Patriots topped Plymouth-Whitemarsh, 59-9, and Penn Charter, 71-4. Brady Riley and Chris Yankowich both recorded two pins for GA.
