Episcopal Academy scored four times in the first half on Friday afternoon and easily downed visiting Agnes Irwin, 4-2, to capture the Inter-Ac League field hockey title.

It's the Churchmen's first outright title since 1999; they shared a crown in 2008.

Junior Alana Dumas recorded three assists while also scoring a goal, and Giana Pileggi needed four saves to post the win.

Sophomore Taryn Gallagher netted her first varsity goal, and Calli Kilmer and Lexi Curry added goals. The Churchmen finished league play 11-0-1 and 23-1-1 overall.

"We're psyched about winning the Inter-Ac title and going undefeated in league play," Episcopal coach Gina Buggy said.

Prianka Bedi recorded 12 saves for Agnes Irwin, and Danielle Bunten and Sophia Tornetta both added goals.

College Commitments

In a ceremony at the school on Friday, St. Joseph's Prep diver Logan Knauss signed to attend the University of Wisconsin, and diver Shane McKenzie signed with Notre Dame.

Knauss is the District 12 record-holder for 11 dives, and McKenzie is the two-time defending District 12 champion in the 500-yard freestyle.

Haverford High lacrosse standout Katrina Geiger signed a letter of commitment with Loyola of Maryland. Geiger was an all-American midfielder as a junior.
