Sat. Pa. football roundup: Wilson, Malvern run wild

The Friars (6-1 overall, 2-0 league), ranked No. 4 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, have outscored their seven opponents by 237-58 this fall, holding Penn Charter (4-3, 1-1) to a fourth-quarter TD by Daryl Worley.

Wilson, a 5-foot-9, 190-pound senior, scored on runs of 3, 2, 37 and 75 yards, and Eric Purnell and Reiley Syrek added single touchdown runs.

Catholic League

Matt Smalley reached the end zone three times for touchdowns amid Father Judge's 42-12 interdivision triumph over visiting Lansdale Catholic (2-6).

After falling behind by 6-0, the Crusaders (5-3) reeled off six straight touchdowns, including Smalley's runs of 1 and 16 yards, plus a 42-yard punt return for a score. Smalley finished with 14 carries for 85 yards in two quarters of action.

Rob Daniels completed 3 of 5 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, and Matt Robinson led the Judge defense with six tackles.

Bishop McDevitt 60, Conwell-Egan 21 - Three McDevitt (5-3, 2-1) players, led by Keith Young's 207 yards and four TDs, ran for more than 100 yards each in the rout over the visiting Eagles (0-8, 0-4).

Suburban One League

Daquan Mack scored the go-ahead touchdown to start the second half and Adam Lewis raced 62 yards for an insurance score as Pennsbury (6-2, 4-1) knocked off visiting Council Rock North (4-4, 3-2), 19-8.

Public League

Germantown (4-4, 4-2) finished in third place in the Class AAAA Gold Division with a 24-6 win over visiting Bartram (0-8, 0-6).

Ackeno Robertson, who carried the ball 19 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns, broke a 6-6 tie with the deciding TD in the third period, and matched teammate Cedric Wright with fourth-period scores. Aaron Boyd added 96 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

Prep Charter 3, Del-Val Charter 0 - Vion Dolo kicked a third-quarter field goal that gave Prep Charter (4-2, 3-1) the points to beat host Del-Val (2-5, 2-4) and earn its first-ever league playoff berth.

Pioneer Ath. Conference

Second-quarter touchdown runs by Alec McQuiston and Travis Andrews combined with a pair of Ian Harrigan field goals to give Phoenixville (6-2, 4-2) a 19-14 triumph at Pope John Paul II (4-4, 3-4).

PJP's David Cotellese scored on a sneak and also hit Matt Bildstein with a 27-yard TD pass.

Spring-Ford 42, Owen J. Roberts 0 - J. J. Paige threw for 235 yards and two TDs in a relief role to guide the league-leading Rams (7-1, 6-0) past visiting OJR (1-7, 0-6).

Independence League

Academy of the New Church (2-5, 1-2) got a 75-yard kickoff return for a TD from Jayson Hankins, and two TD runs by Amir Nelson, but lost, 48-28, to visiting Pennington Prep (3-4, 3-1).

Nonleague

With leading rusher Kwami Larbi sidelined by an injury, Jack Mellgard stepped into the Hill School backfield and contributed 125 yards and a touchdown to a 27-21 win over visiting Poly Prep (N.Y.).

Mellgard carried the ball 17 times and scored the winning TD on a 50-yard run. Adam Regensburg scored Hill's (3-3) first two TDs.
