Pa. Boys: Delaware Valley Friends defeats Wyncote, 4-2

Starting at center forward, Bass scored three goals, plus another that was recorded as an own goal by Wyncote.

The sophomore is in his first year at Del-Val and has been the Dragons' regular starting goalkeeper.

Suburban One. Eric Vare found the net two minutes into overtime to lift Central Bucks East to a 2-1 win at Quakertown. His brother, Ryan, tied the game with 10 minutes left in regulation. With the win, the Patriots clinched the Continental Conference title for the second straight year.

Wissahickon nipped Upper Dublin, 3-2, and clinched the American Conference title thanks to three second-half goals   .

Cross-Country

Dustin Wilson shattered the meet record and set a personal best as he clinched his third straight league championship at the Inter-Ac championship meet at Chestnut Hill Academy. Malvern Prep captured the team title for the second time in three years as the Friars recorded three top-10 finishers.

Bound for Columbia, Wilson finished the 3.1-mile course in 15 minutes, 23 seconds, more than 90 seconds faster than the second-place finisher and topped his personal best by 16 seconds.

In 2008, Matt McCollough of Malvern Prep set the old meet record with a time of 16:25. Finishing eight seconds behind him in second place was Wilson, who was in his freshman year at Chestnut Hill.

Golf

Braden Shattuck shot a 2-over par 72 to finish in third place at the PIAA East Region Championships at Golden Oaks Country Club in Fleetwood, Berks County, Pa.

The Sun Valley senior was the top area finisher and was followed a stroke behind by Jack Fosselman of Avon Grove.

The top 26 finishers qualified for next week's State Championship at Heritage Hills Country Club in Erie.
