Thurs. Pa. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Radnor tops Haverford

Radnor's No. 3 overall ranking in the Pennsylvania girls' lacrosse media poll was in jeopardy for most of Thursday's Central League game with visiting Haverford High, but the Red Raiders scored five goals in the final 15 minutes to pull out a 15-14 win.

Taryn Deck scored five goals to lead the Red Raiders (10-1), and two of those goals came in the final 15 minutes, as did both of Kristen Norden's goals.

The Fords rode the wave of seven Katrina Geiger goals to a 13-10 lead with 14 minutes, 28 seconds left. Jill Root added three goals for Haverford.

Catholic Academies. Jenna Mertz scored six goals and Carolyn Greisser added five for Villa Maria in a 17-5 win over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy. The Hurricanes (10-2 overall, 8-0 league) led, 12-4, at the half.

Boys' Lacrosse

Pennsbury got four goals from Andrew Probst and four assists from Calvin Hopkins in a 9-3 Suburban One League win at Wissahickon.

Hopkins also added a pair of goals, as did Ryan McDonald.

Friends Schools. Julius Mouser scored four goals for host Shipley in its 10-4 win over Moorestown Friends (N.J.), the first loss of the year for the Foxes (6-1). The Gators (9-2, 3-0) also got two goals and two assists from Mike Litner.

Tri-County. Josh DiFillipo's overtime goal gave Del-Val Friends an 8-7 win at Kimberton Waldorf. DiFillipo scored twice, as did teammate Josh Barry.
