Waiting proved worthwhile for Holy Ghost Prep tennis player Connor Pietrak on Tuesday.

Waiting proved worthwhile for Holy Ghost Prep tennis player Connor Pietrak on Tuesday.

Pietrak survived a three-day delay to beat New Hope-Solebury's Brandon Loreti, 6-0, 7-6, and take his first Bicentennial League singles championship.

Pietrak played the first set Saturday at Lower Moreland, with the second set moving to Tuesday morning at the same site because of Saturday's rain.

Pietrak, the league's No. 1 seed, advances to the District 1 tournament Friday at the Healthplex in Springfield (Delaware County). Loreti was the No. 2 seed.

Martinez, a junior shortstop, was 3 for 3 and scored five runs in five plate appearances. He was hit by a pitch in his other two trips to the plate.
