Pa. Boys: Vahedi's bat, arm push Masterman past GW

Nate Vahedi was a jack of all trades for Masterman's baseball team Monday. Vahedi drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning and held visiting Washington scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to give the Blue Dragons past the Eagles, 4-3, in a Public League Division A game.

Vahedi belted a two-run triple to put Masterman into the lead, then came on in relief of starting and winning pitcher David Ashbridge to nail down the victory.

Ashbridge pitched the first six innings and struck out 10.

C.J. Walsh hit a double and a triple while Mike Cavallaro and Pete Rowe pounded solo homers for Central in a 7-5 win over host Northeast.

Shaun Stewart was credited with the win as Freire Charter got past host West Philadelphia, 7-6.

Catholic. Dan Stahl crushed a two-run double in the sixth inning and handed Archbishop Ryan a 5-4 win over host Monsignor Bonner.

 Suburban One National. Dale Hoover came through with a two-run single and helped Abington beat visiting Pennsbury, 6-3.

Suburban One Continental. Ryan King hit a double and a triple and drove in three runs to lead North Penn past host Central Bucks West, 6-3.

Dan O'Hara crushed a three-run homer in the sixth inning for Souderton in a 9-5 win over visiting Hatboro-Horsham.

Suburban One American. Cheltenham scored all of its runs on three hits in the fourth inning and held on to beat visiting Norristown, 6-2.

Matt Lawlor hit an RBI double for the Panthers.

Ches-Mont. Jason McCormick drove in the winning run in the third inning with a two-run double and lifted West Chester Henderson to a 4-3 win over host Great Valley.

Jay Singer pitched a complete game with three strikeouts as Kennett beat visiting Bishop Shanahan, 3-2.

Pioneer Athletic. Winning pitcher Steve Price helped himself with a single, a double, and two runs batted in as Boyertown beat visiting Methacton, 5-3.

 Nonleague. Tyler Scheuer pitched a five-inning no-hitter to lead Calvary Christian past visiting Faith Christian, 14-0.

Scheuer struck out nine and walked one.

Lacrosse

Dillon Cave and Tim Taylor each earned a hat trick for Archbishop Ryan, but the Raiders fell to host Holy Ghost Prep, 10-9, in a nonleague game.
