Jerrell Wright of Dobbins and Brittany Hrynko of Engineering & Science have been named the most outstanding boys' and girls' senior basketball players in the Public League this season.

Each was selected winner of the Phoenix Award, which has been awarded since 2008 by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia, established by Michael G. Horsey.

Wright, a forward, averaged 20 points this season for Dobbins and has committed to La Salle University. The 6-foot-8 senior grabbed 10 or more rebounds in four of the season's final five games, recording two triple-doubles in that span.

Hrynko, a 5-7 guard, scored 21 of her team-high 23 points in the first half to lead the Engineers to a District 12 Class AA title on March 5. The DePaul recruit was averaging 21 points and 7 assists entering Tuesday night's state playoff game against Dunmore.
