Rick Rappo won a PIAA individual title in 2004, Matt won in 2005 and 2006, and Mark won in 2008. Now Billy and Matt are trying to push Council Rock South to a PIAA State Class AAA team title.
Billy Rappo pinned at 103 pounds and Matt earned a technical fall at 135 pounds as the Golden Hawks downed District 3 runner-up Cumberland Valley, 44-24, in a state quarterfinal match Friday.
Billy pinned Sewey Faruque in 1 minute, while Matt beat Travis Hench, 18-2, in 4 minutes, 7 seconds.
South, the District 1 champion, will meet District 11 champion Easton in a semifinal match Saturday at 9 a.m. The Golden Hawks lost to the Red Rovers on Jan. 22, 43-23.
In another quarterfinal match, District 12 champion La Salle fell to four-time defending champion Central Dauphin, 43-24. Bryan Pflanz earned a 3-1 win at 112 pounds for the Explorers. They later lost to District 10 champion Erie McDowell, 30-25, in spite of a 3-0 win by P.J. Steinmetz at 189 pounds.
In a Class AAA first-round consolation match, District 1 No. 2 seed Norristown beat District 4 champion Shikellamy, 37-25, as Gavin Queenan earned a 34-second pin at 285 pounds.
The Eagles then fell to District 7 runner-up Greater Latrobe, 34-27, in a second-round consolation match.
Zach Fuentes pinned in 53 seconds at 103 pounds for Norristown.
In a Class AA first-round consolation match, District 1 champion Lower Moreland got a pin from Jesse Goldstein in 1:36, but fell to District 6 runner-up Claysburg-Kimmel, 57-13.Nonleague. Dan Gallagher earned his 100th career victory without taking the mat as Chestnut Hill Academy picked up a pair of wins.
Gallagher won his bout at 189 pounds by forfeit to reach the milestone in a 48-24 win over visiting Martin Luther King.
In a 43-42 win over visiting Cheltenham, Gallagher pinned in 1:18. The Blue Devils and Panthers tied, 42-42, but Chestnut Hill won because of most first points scored.
Stephen Pepe earned a pin in 2:57 at 215 pounds and helped Bristol beat host Lincoln, 53-18.
Dominique Jones picked up a 54-second pin at 171 pounds and helped Central beat visiting Bishop McDevitt, 59-9.
Basketball
Pennridge and North Penn were forced to share Friday night.
Kyle Peters drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Pennridge a 50-47 win over host Quakertown, handing the Rams a share of the Suburban One Continental Conference title. It is their first basketball title since 1945.
Peters scored 13 points for Pennridge.
North Penn raced to a 17-3 first-quarter lead and beat host Hatboro-Horsham, 37-23, to earn a share of the conference title. Janeus Somers scored 12 points for the Knights.
Catholic. Lamin Fulton hit a pull-up three-pointer at the buzzer and gave Neumann-Goretti a 77-74 win over visiting St. Joseph's Prep.
The win was the 50th-straight league victory for the Saints, breaking the record set by Roman Catholic. Fulton collected 30 points.
Seamus Radtke converted a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds and lifted Father Judge past Roman Catholic, 49-48, at Philadelphia University. Radtke scored 11 points.
Jamal Nwaniemeka chipped in with 20 points including 11 in the final quarter as Conwell-Egan stunned host Archbishop Wood, 66-56.
Eddie Mitchell celebrated Senior Night with 23 points including 10 points in the third quarter and led La Salle to a 59-45 win over visiting Monsignor Bonner.
Juan'ya Green accounted for 17 points and led Archbishop Carroll to a 63-39 win over visiting West Catholic.
Inter-Ac. Malik Garner scored 12 points including the 1,000th of his career as Chestnut Hill Academy tripped host Penn Charter, 43-24. Garner finished the game with 1,001 points.
Jimmy Hammer struck for 24 points and led Germantown Academy to a 55-49 win over league champion Malvern Prep.
Haverford School got 25 Andrew Acker and beat visiting Episcopal Academy, 71-59.
Suburban One National. Council Rock North preserved a perfect league season with a 38-34 win over visiting Neshaminy. Charlie Anastasi scored 15 points for the Indians.
Suburban One American. Stephon Bond scored 24 points as Plymouth Whitemarsh clinched the conference title with a 60-37 win over visiting Norristown.

Pioneer Athletic. Pope John Paul II got 13 points from Dave Cotellese and beat Methacton, 56-41, in a semifinal game at Perkiomen Valley.
In the other semifinal, Spring-Ford got 18 points from Steve Joyce and slipped past Pottstown, 52-50.
Bicentennial. Tyler Juchno scored 13 points as Holy Ghost Prep beat visiting Springfield (Montgomery County), 72-36, to earn the Independence Conference title.
Phil-Mont Christian clinched a tie for the Constitution Conference title with a 65-61 overtime win over visiting Plumstead Christian. Godfrey Baldez paced the Falcons with 45 points.
Jack Kinniry scored 19 points, notched the 1,000th point of his career and converted the game-winning jumper with 10 seconds left to give Jenkintown a 48-46 win over host Calvary Christian.
Kinniry reached the milestone on a layup in the first quarter. He scored 19 points and finished the game with 1,012 points.
Jordan Sbraccia picked up 22 points and boosted Delco Christian to a 54-45 win over visiting Morrisville.
Duncan Becker contributed 20 points and 20 rebounds as Devon Prep handled visiting MaST Charter, 70-59.
Tri-County. Yazan Muasher poured in 15 of his 19 points during a 23-4 scoring effort by Del-Val Friends in the first quarter and sparked Del-Val Friends to a 53-41 win over visiting Woodlynde.
Mid-Atlantic Prep. Josh Heyliger scored 15 points and Hill School downed visiting Mercersburg Academy, 67-50, in a first-round playoff game.
Nonleague. Stefron Poole notched 13 points as Glen Mills held on to beat host Downingtown West, 44-42.
Cordell Long struck for 14 of his 23 points in the first half and boosted Church Farm to a 77-41 win over visiting West-Mont Christian.
