Rick Stroup has been selected as Penncrest's new football coach. He was an assistant at Garnet Valley the last 10 years, most recently serving as defensive coordinator.

Stroup, 56, previously was the head coach at Oxford (1997) and Sun Valley (1994-96). In the college ranks, he was an assistant at Swarthmore, Cheyney, West Chester, and Kutztown.

"I'm excited," said Stroup, who played outside linebacker at Kutztown in the mid-1970s. "It's going to be a challenge, but I think there's a decent amount of talent there."

Stroup replaces Paul Graham, who stepped down after guiding Penncrest to a 23-20 mark in four seasons. The Lions went 2-9 overall and 2-7 in the Central League last year.
