Fri. Pa. girls’ roundup: Guard duo leads Friends’ Central to win

Sophomore wing guard Maria Conyers-Jordan scored 17 points and Temple recruit Monaye Merritt, a senior, added 16 points and nine steals. Merritt, who plays the point, is the school's all-time leader in assists.

Friends' Central is 7-6 overall, 2-0 league.

Freshman Sox Alexander had 10 assists for host Shipley in its 60-31 win over Friends Select.

Catholic. Lindsay Cras knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 16 points to lead host Archbishop Prendergast over Conwell-Egan, 60-28.

The unbeaten Pandas (8-0, 2-0) jumped out to a 27-7 lead.

Inter-Ac. Penn Charter opened with a 22-5 lead and coasted to a 61-45 win at Agnes Irwin behind Aleesha Powell's 21 points.

Central. Alex Poplawski, a 5-foot-11 sophomore, had 17 rebounds for host Springfield (Delaware County) in its 58-37 win over Penncrest. Kelsi Chazin's 13 points paced the Cougars (8-2, 6-0).

Harriton picked up its first league win, 44-35, over visiting Marple Newtown by closing out the game with a 12-7 run. Katie Melvin's 18 points paced all scorers. The Rams are 4-8, 1-4.

Suburban One National. Ashley Alden's 19 points carried host William Tennent past Truman, 57-21. The Panthers (6-2, 2-2) led, 36-3, at halftime.

Megan Schafer had 13 points for host Neshaminy in its 44-38 win over Bensalem. The Redskins scored 16 of the game's final 20 points.

Devin Gold hit five three-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead Council Rock North to a 68-35 win over visiting Pennsbury.

Suburban One American. Taylor Bryant scored 18 points and Lauren Rothfeld added a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) in Upper Dublin's 57-31 win over visiting Norristown.

Suburban One Continental. Carley Kendall had 14 points and Gabby McAndrew added 12 points on four three-pointers as Souderton won at rival Quakertown, 57-33.

Host Hatboro-Horsham made nine overtime free throws to outlast Pennridge, 56-53. Alicia Hayes led the Hatters with 17 points.

Public. Sarah Rodgers helped turn a close game into a rout with 12 second-quarter points for Franklin Towne Charter in a 47-22 win at Kensington. The Coyotes led, 8-4, after one quarter and 18-6 at halftime.

Del-Val Charter got 15 points from Karastina Choub in a 51-27 win at Martin Luther King.

Sophomore point guard Lornay Rowe had 20 points and six assists for host Communications Tech in a 53-19 win over Bok.

Isabella Ross had 18 points and seven rebounds for Central in a 55-28 win at Fels. Najah Jacobs had 16 points and 11 assists.

Tiffany Then had 20 points for Paul Robeson in a 52-16 win over visiting Randolph.

Ben Franklin opened the second half with a 15-2 run, sealing a 50-26 win over visiting West Philadelphia. Mary Joyner scored six of her game-high 15 points during that span.

Prep Charter won at University City, 62-9, running its overall record to 9-0. Yasmine Montgomery had 11 points for the Huskies.

Keishla Gilmore had 15 points for Mariana Bracetti in a 39-12 win at Esperanza.

Olney doubled up host Edison, 66-33, as Keyshlee Candelario scored 30 points and Onairys Medina added 24 rebounds.

Brinklea Barnes had 10 points for host Mastery Charter in its 34-30 win over Bodine.

Two fourth-quarter field goals by Cynthia Sao opened a 10-point lead for host Southern in a 30-17 win over Roxborough. Sao finished with 12 points to lead the Rams.

Alex Steward scored 24 points as Philadelphia Academy Charter topped visiting Elverson, 55-20, for its first win of the season.

Overbrook's Dianna Murhead-Dwyer, a 5-foot-10 forward, had 22 points and 25 rebounds in a 52-36 win over visiting Palumbo.

Math, Civics and Sciences got 13 points from Tatiana Larry in a 36-24 win over visiting World Communications.

The Mighty Elephants also got a strong effort from Imani Thomas, a 5-9 sophomore, who had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Parkway West earned a 64-23 win at New Media Charter as Tanisha Chambers scored 25 points for the unbeaten Hoyas (4-0).

Shaquita Williams had 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for High School of the Future in its 45-28 win over visiting Masterman.

Brittany Hrynko had 16 points, half of them in the third quarter, for Engineering and Science in a 58-32 win over visiting Strawberry Mansion.

Bridget Giedemann had 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for host Swenson in its 39-21 win over Parkway Northwest.

Waynesha Griffin's 22 points was the difference for host Frankford in its 51-29 win over Girls High.

Imhotep Charter got 17 points from Emily Dash in a 58-24 win over visiting Science Leadership.

North Penn's Meghan McGovern covered the 3,000-meter run in a state-championship qualifying time of 10 minutes, 27.17 seconds to win that event at the Delaware Valley Coaches Association meet at Haverford College.
