Thurs. Pa. girls’ roundup: Narrow win for Phil-Mont Christian

Steiger hit a running jumper from seven feet out with 30 seconds left for the winning points as the Falcons held on to beat visiting Jenkintown, 23-20, in a Bicentennial League basketball game.

Steiger's basket gave Phil-Mont a 21-18 lead. The Drakes cut the deficit again to one point, but Jen Khoo iced the win for the Falcons with a pair of free throws with one second left. Khoo scored a game-high seven points.

In other league games:

Krystle Cook and Shaquira McCottry each scored eight points to lead Girard College past host Plumstead Christian, 31-29.

The Cavaliers opened the game with a 13-7 run.

Olivia Bradford scored 13 points and helped Christopher Dock beat visiting Lower Moreland, 37-28.

Katherine Brown and Jah'mirra Chambers each scored 12 points to lift Morrisville past host Bristol, 41-32.

Emily Homas scored 14 points for Delco Christian in a 54-23 win over host New Hope-Solebury.

Springfield (Montgomery County) shut out visiting MaST Charter in the second and fourth quarters and ripped the Panthers, 54-9.

Three Spartans outscored MaST by themselves, including Taylor DelMonte, who scored 18 points.

Catholic. Bishop McDevitt got 13 points from Chelsea Burrough and beat visiting West Catholic, 35-23.

Central. Lila Jones picked up 20 points for Lower Merion in a 47-27 win over host Ridley.

Ches-Mont. Noelle Alicea scored 21 points and Kaitlyn Dougherty added 20 points to give Downingtown East a 64-45 win over host Bishop Shanahan.

Brittany Sicinski collected 20 points and boosted Downingtown West to a 58-38 win over visiting West Chester East.

Tiffany Govan led a balanced Great Valley scoring attack with 10 points and the Patriots topped host Kennett, 45-21.

Miriah Powell poured in 23 points to lead West Chester Rustin to a 61-34 win over host Octorara.

Pioneer Athletic. Haley Mesaros' free throw along with Devin Raugh's steal and jumper with 10 seconds left gave Pope John Paul II a 44-40 win over visiting Pottsgrove. Taylor Bearden paced the Golden Panthers with 11 points.

Catholic Academies. Melissa Poderis converted what turned out to be the winning free throw with 35 seconds left and handed Villa Joseph Marie a 36-35 win over visiting Merion Mercy. Poderis led a balanced Jems' scoring attack with eight points.

In other league games:

Maggie Borski scored 11 of her 14 points in the second half and sparked Nazareth Academy to a 53-37 win over host Gwynedd-Mercy.

The Pandas raced to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and held a 24-9 halftime advantage.

Mary Jo Horgan scored 19 points and Steph Smith added 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead Mount St. Joseph to a 51-35 win over host Sacred Heart.

The Magic held the Lions to single digits in each of the first three quarters.

Kellie O'Rourke dropped in 15 points for Villa Maria in a 45-22 win over visiting St. Basil.

Tri-County. Perkiomen School got scoring from two just players, but one got the job done by herself.

Nicole Pupillo accounted for all but two of the points scored by the Indians and outscored Collegium Charter all by herself in a 23-19 victory.

Pupillo was 12 for 15 from the free throw line while Alexa Turner picked up Perkiomen's other two points.

Nonleague. Tatiana Larry scored 13 points and Imani Thomas added 10 points and 13 rebounds as Math, Civics & Science beat visiting Maritime Academy, 34-29.

It was the first career win for Mighty Elephants' coach Che Perry.

Anyae Cardwell and Porche Welch each scored eight points and led Christian Academy past visiting Pilgrim Christian, 39-27.

Cardwell also handed out eight assists.

Fatima Dulany accounted for 10 points and four assists as Mastery Charter downed host Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 45-21.

Mastery closed out the game with a 16-5 run.

Neshaminy got 11 points each from Amanda Lally and Jen Slivka and handled host Notre Dame (N.J.), 53-26.

Megan Schafer chipped in with nine points and eight steals for the Redskins, who built a 42-22 lead through three quarters.

Germantown Academy got balanced scoring and eased past visiting Shipley, 66-33. Alexa Gallagher and Monica Schacker each scored 15 points for the Patriots.

William Tennent sprinted to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and beat visiting Upper Moreland, 56-11. Liz Koval and Alison Malatesta each scored nine points for the Panthers.
