Penn Charter’s Koplove commits early to Duke

Last summer, Koplove played for the 17-and-under USA Stars, as part of the USA Baseball National Team Identification Series (NTIS). In a Perfect Game showcase event, his throw from shortstop to first base was clocked at 94 m.p.h.
The 6-foot-1, 150-pound righthander missed most of the last high school season while recovering from surgery on his broken throwing arm. As a freshman for the Quakers, he went 9-0 with a 1.37 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 61 innings. He was The Inquirer's Southeastern Pennsylvania rookie of the year.
Other commitments. Great Valley catcher Jack Meeker and Friends' Central infielder-pitcher Paul Cotler, both seniors, are bound for La Salle and Penn, respectively.
Last season, Meeker batted .470 with 37 RBIs, 9 doubles, and 3 home runs. Cotler hit .408 with 37 RBIs, 31 runs, 8 doubles, 5 triples, 2 homers, and a .757 slugging percentage. On the mound, he went 8-4 with 37 strikeouts in 49 innings.
