Fri. Pa. girls’ roundup: Villa Maria blanks St. Basil

It was déjà vu all over again for Villa Maria's Caroline Troncelliti on Friday in a 5-0 field hockey win over visiting St. Basil.

It was déjà vu all over again for Villa Maria's Caroline Troncelliti on Friday in a 5-0 field hockey win over visiting St. Basil.

Troncelliti had a hat trick for the second time against the Panthers this season, both resulting in victories by the same 5-0 score.

Troncelliti scored the third, fourth and fifth goals in the game to raise her season total to 21. She also scored three in a 5-0 win over St. Basil on Sept. 17.

The unbeaten Hurricanes (14-0 overall, 11-0 league) are ranked No. 2 in The Inquirer's Southeastern Pennsylvania Top 10.

Sophomore Ann Burgoyne scored three second-half goals to break open a tight game and give host Mount St. Joseph a 5-0 win over Sacred Heart.

Emilee Ehret and Brooke Sabia also scored.

Catholic. Carlie Spaeder had three goals to lead unbeaten Cardinal O'Hara to a 10-0 win at Little Flower. The Lions (13-0-1, 6-0) also got a pair of goals apiece from Marissa Cicione and Meghan Kearney.

Meg Matthews scored with 5 minutes, 30 seconds left in overtime to give St. Hubert a 3-2 win at Lansdale Catholic.

Archbishop Carroll got a hat trick from sophomore midfielder Michelle Walsh in a 9-0 win over visiting Bishop McDevitt. Kerry Newby added two goals and three assists for the Patriots (9-3, 5-0), who have won five games in a row.

Inter-Ac. Moira Putsch had two goals and two assists for Notre Dame in its 7-0 win over Springside. Victoria Monzo added a pair of goals for the Irish (8-4, 5-0).

Host Penn Charter scored a goal in each half and handed Agnes Irwin a 2-0 loss. Grace McInerney and Liz Will scored for the Quakers (6-3, 2-2).

Suburban One National. Goals by Allie Brady, Jenna Rowan and Julia Vogel gave Pennsbury a 3-1 lead in a 3-2 win at Abington.

Meredith Cox and Catherine Frain scored for the Ghosts.

Emily Hegner poked in a loose ball 1:45 into overtime to give Neshaminy a 2-1 win at Council Rock South.

Brittany Sheehan also scored for the Redskins (3-6-1, 3-5-1).

Suburban One Continental. Amy Coughlin scored three goals, all in the second half, to give North Penn a 3-0 win at Central Bucks West. The Maidens are 10-1-1, 7-1-1.

Brittany Meyer scored all three goals for host Central Bucks East in a 3-0 win over Pennridge.

Suburban One American. Mollie Getzfread assisted on both goals for host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a 2-0 win over Upper Dublin.

Pioneer Athletic. Sara Watro scored twice for Methacton in its 4-1 win at Boyertown.

McKenzie Buell and Emily Kellett each added a pair of assists for the Warriors (10-5, 8-3).

Nonleague. Ashley Razzano had two goals and Alyssa Coombs and Anna Elise Morello each chipped in with two assists to pace Garnet Valley to a 6-0 win at Sun Valley.

Kelsey LeBlanc assisted on both Haverford High goals in a 2-1 win over visiting Downingtown West. Kelly Noone tipped in the game-winner off a reverse shot from the top of the circle early in the second half.

Soccer

Val Rodden's overtime goal gave Hill School a 3-2 Mid-Atlantic Prep League win at Peddie School (N.J.), the first win for the Blues over the Falcons in the 12-year history of the league.

Ches-Mont. Kelsey McDonald's first-half goal, off an assist from Nicole Stiles, stood up for Unionville in a 1-0 win at Sun Valley.

Catholic. Courtney O'Kane's three goals were the difference for host Cardinal O'Hara in its 4-1 win over Bishop McDevitt.

Pioneer Athletic. Sammi Eddinger and Hollie Garber scored for Boyertown in its 2-0 win at Methacton.

Friends Schools. Kasey Brida had a pair of assists for host Shipley in its 3-0 win over Abington Friends. Nanci Selig, Sophie Katz and Abbey Spector scored.

Goalie J.B. Loomis had three saves for the shutout.

Emily Lamb's two goals helped host Westtown hand Moorestown Friends (N.J.) its second loss of the season, 3-0.

Jana Kleinemeier also scored for the Quakers.

Nonleague. Courtney Higginson scored a late goal for host Gwynedd-Mercy in a 1-1 tie with Upper Perkiomen.

Ridley scored five first-half goals, two by Kelsey Yori, in a 5-0 win over visiting Chichester.

Melissa Scanzano scored half of Haverford High's goals in a 4-0 win over visiting Interboro.

Katrina Geiger and Jill Root also scored. It was the seventh shutout of the season for the Fords (8-3-1).

Christina Kelly had six saves for host Springfield (Delaware County) in its 2-0 win over Archbishop Prendergast.

Priscilla Wiggins scored a goal in each half to give George School a 2-0 win at Phil-Mont Christian.

Casey Umstead's second-half goal gave Upper Perkiomen a 1-0 win at Gwynedd-Mercy.

Devon Stanley had a goal and an assist for host St. Hubert in its 2-1 win over Germantown Academy. The Bambies are 11-2-1.

Tennis

Alex Lawall needed three sets to top Lillian Smith, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 to help host Central beat Girls High, 3-2, and clinch the Public League's regular-season title.

District 1. In the Class AAA singles championships at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center, top-seeded Erin Bowsher of West Chester Henderson and No. 2 Cristina Grimaldi both won two matches to advance to today's quarterfinals.

In Class AA, also at Arthur Ashe, Harriton's Hannah Drayton, the No. 1-seed, and No. 2 Cristina Kaiser of Springfield (Delaware County) both won second-round matches in straight sets.
