Pa. Boys: Northeast, patched-up goalie beat Central, 2-1 in boys' soccer

The Vikings scored twice in the first half, then relied on Lynn to hold off the visiting Lancers for a 2-1 victory.

Lynn suffered an injury to a thumb ligament similar to that suffered by Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley and had the cast removed prior to the game.

Ryan Masih and Shavar Shepherd gave Northeast a 2-0 halftime lead and Lynn preserved the victory, allowing the goal to Central's David Mantilla in the second half.

In another league game, Lincoln converted goals by Hasim Abdulrasool, Amir Albarouki, Angeline Baez, Kelvin Banieh and Danny Montano into a 5-0 win over host Southern.

Central. Ricky Schultz directed a header into the net with a half-second left to boost Penncrest past host Conestoga, 2-1.

Alex Martyn also scored for the Lions, who got 12 saves from Ian Campbell.

Joe Raymond scored in the first minute of overtime off an assist from Alex Murphy and gave Strath Haven a 2-1 win over visiting Harriton, handing the Rams their first loss of the season.

Omar Randall scored to tie the game for the Panthers with 12 minutes left in the second half.

Drew Hazzard converted an unassisted goal from 15 yards out 7 minutes, 30 seconds into the game and Springfield (Delaware County) held on to beat visiting Haverford High, 1-0.

Eric Moore earned the shutout in goal with six saves while Fords' goalie Brendan Fitzpatrick stopped 14 shots.

In another league game, Benson Bangura, George Lambritsios and Sumo Yarktawolo converted goals to lift Upper Darby to a 3-0 win over visiting Garnet Valley.

Tim Johnson turned aside five shots to earn the shutout in goal for the Royals.

Bicentennial. Christian Martins scored on a corner kick from Alex Martins five minutes into a second overtime period and handed Lower Moreland a 6-5 win over visiting Phil-Mont Christian.

Christian Martins scored twice and Jeremy Geiger recorded three saves for the Lions.

Tri-County. Alex Moshal struck for two goals and an assist as Barrack Hebrew dropped visiting Phelps, 5-2.

Daniel Hatooka, Daniel Saltz and Ben Schevlin also scored for the Cougars, who got six saves from Evan Benedict.

Nonleague. Sun Valley got goals from Kevin Cieota, Austin Tasker and Tommy Thompson and slipped past host Chichester, 3-2.

The Vanguards got 15 saves from goalie John Becker while Eagles' goalie Matt Wells converted a penalty kick for goal.

John Anderson scored three goals in the first 14 minutes of the second half and gave Coatesville a 3-0 win over visiting Interboro.

In the first half, Anderson took eight shots and hit the crossbar twice. He has five goals this season.

Tim Coady scored twice and Justin Coyne chipped in with a goal and an assist to lead Monsignor Bonner to a 3-0 win over host Glen Mills.

Nick Previti stopped six shots to pick up the shutout in goal for the Friars.

Upper Moreland spread the scoring around and downed host Phoenixville, 5-1.

Scoring for the Golden Bears were John Baez, Menvehek Daremay, Tim DeCarolis, Tyler Foerst and Tommy Hays. Phantoms goalie Vinnie D'Innocenzo turned aside 13 of Upper Moreland's 18 shots.

Mike Stewart notched a hat trick and paced Shipley to a 6-0 win over visiting Devon Prep.

Matt Clauson and Grant Hillzinger scored their first varsity goals and Sam Marks contributed three assists for the Gators.
