The 14th-seeded Penncrest Lions got a 25-yard touchdown run from quarterback Matt Atkinson in the final quarter and stunned the host Garnet Valley Jaguars, seeded third, 38-35 Friday night.

Jerry Boyer scored on a pair of 1-yard bolts, and Phil Barbieri caught a 19-yard scoring toss from Atkinson to give Penncrest (8-3) a 21-7 lead in the second quarter.

But Garnet Valley (9-2) rallied behind Marcelus Irving and Mark McHugh, who notched a pair of touchdowns each, to give their team a 28-21 lead in the third quarter.

After an exchange of touchdowns by John Young for the Lions and Irving in the third quarter, Tom Weathers kicked a 31-yard field goal, and Atkinson performed his heroics to give the Penncest the win.

The Lions lost to the Jaguars during the regular season, 28-27, on Sept. 25.
