Methacton's Ryann Krais saved her best performance for her final Suburban One American Conference championship meet.
Yesterday, at
Plymouth Whitemarsh, the UCLA-bound senior gave the fans a performance to remember, leading the Warriors to the team title by setting two records and tying a third.
In all, Krais finished first in four events, breaking her own record in the 300 hurdles (42.03 seconds) and tying her own mark (13.8) in the 100 hurdles.
In addition, Krais won the high jump and the long jump. Her winning high jump of 5-foot-8 was also a meet record.
Inter-Ac. At
Germantown Academy,
Penn Charter grabbed the Inter-Ac League girls' track and field title yesterday from its hosts and chief rivals, and the Quakers show no signs of relinquishing that crown soon.
The Quakers amassed 149 team points, and all but two of them were scored by non-seniors.
Notre Dame was second with 121.
Germantown Academy, which had won the title for the last three years, finished fifth with 42 points.
Kirby Dixon led the way for Penn Charter with wins in the long jump and the triple jump, and she also participated on the third leg of the winning 4x100-meter relay team. Khaleedah Smith, Marquessa Gray and Saudiah Lawrence joined Dixon on that quartet.
The meet's most valuable performer award went to Taylor Ellis-Watson of
Springside on the basis of most individual points scored. She raced home first in the 100, 200 and 400.
Notre Dame's Julieanne Garvey won both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races.
Mid-Atlantic Prep. At
Hill School,
Mercersburg Academy's Lena Finucane pulled off the difficult triple of winning the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter races, the individual highlight of the league championships.
The highest finish for the host school came from Colleen Cordaro in the discus, who finished second to Paige Summers of Mercersburg Academy.
Lacrosse
Nora McGurkin scored three of her four goals in overtime, leading
Penn Charter to a 15-13 Inter-Ac League win at
Springside.
McGurkin added three assists for the Quakers (9-5 overall, 7-3 league), who also got five goals from Becca Foley.
Leslie Jacoby and Nora Langan each had six goals to lead Springside. Langan scored with 1 minute, 50 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
Softball
Molly Ferguson allowed five hits over seven innings in pitching host
Phoenixville past
Pottstown, 6-2, in a Pioneer Athletic Conference game.
Nonleague. Emily Armour pitched a four-inning no-hiter for
Hill School in a 15-0 win at
Perkiomen School.
