Morgan Falana was not supposed to pitch for
Cheltenham until today. Good thing for the Panthers that she took the hill yesterday.
Falana tossed a perfect game and led Cheltenham past visiting
Springfield (Montgomery County), 9-0, in a Suburban One American Conference softball game.
The game was moved back a day because of rain predicted for today, and it turned into the first perfect game in school history. Falana, a junior, struck out three and improved her record to 12-3, as did the Panthers.
Brittany Gould went 3 for 4 with a double and drove in three runs.
Central. Brittany Lautenslager ripped a two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning and sparked
Haverford High to a 4-0 win over host
Marple Newtown.
Lautenslager's hit capped a three-run outburst by the Fords. Michele Patten got the win after holding the Tigers to two hits, striking out nine, and walking none.
Suburban One National. Brianne Birtell came within an error of a five-inning perfect game and lifted
Neshaminy past visiting
Bensalem, 14-0.
Birtell struck out six and was backed by Kelsey Ryan and Christina Udris, who contributed three hits each. Ryan scored four runs and Udris drove in a pair of runs and scored three times.
Kellianne Bradstreet gave up just one hit over seven innings and helped
North Penn beat host
Harry S Truman, 8-1.
Bradstreet struck out five and walked four for the Maidens, who got two singles and an RBI from Miranda Fergus.
Suburban One Continental. Kim Detweiler scored the only run of the game in the sixth inning and Kristen Palmeirio struck out 11 as
Norristown tripped host
Council Rock South, 1-0.
Palmeirio gave up four hits and walked one for the Eagles.
Del-Val. Caroline Miller tossed a five-inning perfect game and recorded her 180th strikeout of the season as
Harriton downed visiting
Penn Wood, 10-0.
Miller struck out nine for the Rams, who got doubles from Jen Crain, Sage Harris and Lorig Stepanion.
Catholic Academies. Giannina Cipolloni belted a three-run homer in the second inning and
Nazareth Academy maintained its hold on first place with a 12-2 win over host
Villa Joseph Marie.
Cipolloni went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Amanda Fernandez kept the Jems in check, holding them to five hits while striking out five and walking two en route to the win.
Carly Boyer pitched four innings of a five-inning one-hitter and helped
Villa Maria subdue visiting
Sacred Heart, 13-0.
Boyer struck out one and walked none. Maggie McGowan hit a two-run homer in the first inning to get the Hurricanes off to a good start. She finished the game with three hits, two runs scored and four runs batted in.
Nonleague. Jocelyn Hickey gave up just one hit and led
Christopher Dock past host
Delco Christian, 7-2.
Hickey struck out eight for the Pioneers, who got three hits each from Kelby Bolton and Val Weiss.
Lacrosse
Kelly McCallion scored with 10 seconds left in a second overtime period and handed
Notre Dame an 11-10 Inter-Ac League win over visiting
Baldwin. McCallion scored four times for the Irish.
