Experience counts. The Great Valley girls' team has compiled an impressive 75-14 record over the last three years, including a 9-3 mark in District 1 Class AAA playoffs and a 2-2 record in the PIAA playoffs. Coach Paul Girone doesn't see any reason why that success rate shouldn't continue this season.
By Tim McManus, INQUIRER STAFF WRITERDowningtown East locked up the No. 1 seed in the District 1 Class AAAA tournament and its first unbeaten regular season in school history Friday with a 6-3 win over visiting West Chester Henderson in a Ches-Mont National football game.The Cougars, ranked second in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, open the tournament at home next weekend. Ryley Angeline gave the Cougars (10-0, 6-0) a 6-0 lead on an 8-yard run in the third quarter.Sean Engles 37-yard field goal cut the lead in half in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors (7-3, 3-3) couldnt get any closer.
