Friday night, with St. Joseph's Prep squashing the run, the La Salle Explorers and offensive coordinator Brett Gordon, once a star QB at La Salle, called on quarterback Drew Loughery in a big way. And he answered in no-problem fashion.

Passing along some city high school football tidbits . . . The kicking world works in mysterious ways. One possession after bumping aside 2003 St. Joseph's Prep grad Pat Kaiser to claim the city record for career PATs (with No. 158, en route to 162) in a 44-22 win over McDevitt last Saturday, West Catholic's Tim Carroll, a 6-3, 190-pound senior, finally added another weapon to his instepping arsenal: a field goal.

Gregory DiCocco, of Radnor High, has been selected the winner of this week's Donovan McNabb/Daily News award. He will attend Sunday night's Eagles game against the Dallas Cowboys, with first place on the line in the NFC East.

Southeastern Pennsylvania
John Loughery, Penn Charter

With 45 percent of the vote, Penn Charter quarterback John Loughery was selected as the Southeastern Pennsylvania football player of the week. Loughery passed for 284 yards to set a school record of 2,014 passing yards in a season in a 25-22 win over Germantown Academy on Nov. 14. For his performance, Loughery will receive a Rally T-shirt.
