Friday’s South Jersey roundup: RJ Moten leads Delran football over Holy Cross

RJ Moten was a standout on both sides of the ball to lead the Delran football team to a 30-22 win on Friday over Holy Cross, the Inquirer's No. 25-ranked team. Moten threw an 80-yard touchdown pass, ran for an 89-yard touchdown and caught and 18-yard touchdown to lead the way for the Bears on offense. He also recorded two interceptions on defense. His interception on Holy Cross' last drive helped seal the game.

Xavier Coleman ran in two touchdowns as Lenape held on for 17-14 upset win over No. 22 Vineland. Lenape kicker Steve Mulville put his team up by 17 midway through the third quarter with a 42-yard field goal. Vineland scored two late touchdowns, but Lenape forced a late fumble, and Mulville's kick proved the difference.

The Haddonfield defense led the way in a 21-0 win over No. 12 Cinnaminson. Jay Foley hit Drew Gavranich for a 13-yard touchdown pass. Foley also kept one himself for a 16-yard touchdown run. Alex Kadar ran in a two-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Prince-Dru Bey tossed five touchdowns passes as No. 24 Winslow Township took down No. 16 Cherokee, 34-14. Isaiah Lewis and Jayden Brown both caught two touchdown receptions, and Donovan Bunch added a 46-yard touchdown catch.

Nick Arcaroli threw for a score and ran for another as Cherry Hill West topped Mainland, 21-14. Arcaroli tossed a touchdown pass to John Ioannucci in the second quarter and ran 36 yards for a score in the third. Carlos Gomez ran in a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for Cherry Hill West's final score.

Guided by two touchdowns from Byron Spellman, Buena took down Middle Township, 21-15. After Middle Township went up 7-0, Spellman broke off a 44-yard touchdown run to spark 21 unanswered points for Buena. Middle Township made it a one-possession game with 2 minutes, 23 seconds left, but Buena ran out the clock to secure the win.

Dorien DePina combined for three touchdowns in Clayton's 48-0 win against Wildwood. DePina opened the scoring with a 44-yard touchdown run and added two scores through the air. He hit Justin Mills for a 23-yard touchdown in the first quarter and added a 58-yard touchdown pass to Mills in the third quarter.

Cedar Creek topped Absegami, 41-6. Louie Barrios threw for two touchdowns, including a 57-yard strike to Manny Reid. Malachi Melton caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Barrios and added a 32-yard touchdown run. Kamaal Reed ran for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Pennsauken cruised to a 38-0 victory against Cumberland. Jose Mendez returned an interception for a touchdown and Nahzir Russell rushed for two touchdowns.

Field hockey

Julia Patrone scored two goals and recorded one assist Friday as Camden Catholic's field hockey team rolled past Winslow Township, 5-0. Natalie Berry, Sophia Conte and Katherine Walsh added goals.

Allison Yocum's hat trick helped Cherokee defeat Cherry Hill West, 5-1. Emily Hazel scored the Lions' lone goal.

Shawnee shut out Bishop Eustace, 3-0, thanks to goals from Amanda Beck, Riley Eck and Erica Solomen.

Hammonton lost, 5-0, to Schalick. Dina Cavicchia, Julianna Donato and Madison DuBois scored goals.

Rancocas Valley scored three goals in the second half to come back and beat Bordentown, 3-1. Alyssa Maggs scored twice and Kaitlyn Bowker had one goal.

Courtney Farren's hat trick lifted Gateway to a 7-0 win against Paulsboro. Celina Morello, Brynne Okrem, Maria Triantafillou and Veronica Zagone all scored.

Maura Tumelty had two goals and one assist in Cinnaminson's 4-1 victory over Delran.

The Gloucester Institute of Technology edged out Gloucester Catholic, 6-2. McKenna Mealey and Devon Purnell each scored a pair of goals.

Vanessa DiDonato's two goals helped Burlington Township beat North Burlington, 4-1.

Sterling beat Pennsville, 7-2. Megan Barbara, Adrianna Jones and Olivia Sims scored two goals apiece.

Natalie Doman scored two goals as Maple Shade defeated Pemberton, 5-0. Alison Bimmer, Melissa Donaldson and Ashlyn Durst added goals.

Anna Bruno scored in Clearview's 1-0 victory over Middle Township.

Boys’ soccer

Shane Spence and Gabe Saint Elien knocked in goals as Cinnaminson beat Burlington Township, 3-2.

Caden Avery, Tyler Miller and Chris Rubena each scored in Gateway's 3-0 shut out over Lindenwold.

Haddon Township crushed Paulsboro, 8-0. Marco Albertini, Brian Burns, Jacob Chatten, Jackson Green, Andrew Hough, Brian Madden, Luca Severino and Dermot Sheehan added goals.

Pennsauken lost, 6-1, to North Burlington. Joe Feig and Justin Kreidler each knocked in two goals.

Sterling beat Haddonfield, 6-2. Bryan Andrade scored twice, and Kejsi Bocaj, Bruce Williams and Van Nei Zuala knocked in goals.

Matt Price scored in Millville's 1-0 win over Cumberland. Nate Goranson had four saves for the Thunderbolts.

Gabe Selby's 11 saves helped Woodbury shut out Overbrook, 6-0. Demaris Murphy scored two goals.

Cherry Hill West lost, 4-0, to North Burlington. Rachel Quigley had seven saves.
