An assistant basketball coach at Vineland, N.J., High School who volunteers with a student foreign exchange program allegedly exposed himself to a male student staying at his home early Monday after playing drinking games, local police said Wednesday.

John Kinka, 49, of East Chestnut Avenue in Vineland, allegedly drank vodka with two unidentified students, police said in a statement. He then exposed his genitals to one of the juveniles and asked the boy to remove his pants, police allege.

The two students fled his house after Kinka allegedly tried pulling down the boy’s pants. They were spotted by a police officer at about 4 a.m. They didn’t initially report the incident, police said, for fear of being kicked out of the foreign exchange program. Kinka volunteers with ASSE International Foreign Exchange Program, police said.

The students had been staying with two different families when they were dropped off at Kinka’s on Friday to attend a conference.

Police said Kinka was also a volunteer assistant coach for Vineland High’s girls basketball team, but he has since been removed from that position.

He is charged with providing alcohol to minors and lewdness and released with a summons.
