The NJSIAA sectional boys' soccer championships will be staged over the next two days and the influence of Burlington County schools is clearly evident. There are eight championship games involving at least one team from the seven-county South Jersey area and Burlington County will have six participants. They are Palmyra, Burlington Township, Moorestown, Lenape, Delran and Rancocas Valley.

The South Jersey Non-Public championships are Thursday with the Central and South Jersey finals Friday. Here is a look at the games involving teams from the seven-county South Jersey area:

SJ Group 1: No. 3 Palmyra (15-4-2) at No. 1 Pitman (17-2-1), 2 p.m., Friday. Palmyra is riding the hot foot of Ryan Butler, who has five goals in the three playoff wins and a team-high 21 for the season. Jon Petitte has been a strong complementary scorer with 11 goals. Goalie Tim Brett has nine of the Panthers' 10 shutouts. Pitman goalie Steve Shuler has allowed just 11 goals and has recorded 12 shutouts. Josh Pacana is the offensive leader with 21 goals and five assists, while Matt Barton has contributed 16 goals and four assists. First team to score could be the winner.

SJ Group 2: No. 4 Haddon Township, (18-3-1) at No. 2 West Deptford, (19-2-1), 2 p.m., Friday. West Deptford beat Haddon Township, 3-0, but that was on Sept. 21 and since thboth teams have improved since. Township is led by Jay Casey, who has a single-season school record 25 goals. Goalie Nick Skabla stopped three penalty kicks in the shootout that Haddon Township won, 3-1 after tying Woodstown 2-2 in regulation and overtime during the semifinals. West Deptford has one of the top scoring tandems in South Jersey with Jake Perry (29 goals, 15 assists) and Ryan Kelly (25 goals, 9 assists). That's a lot of firepower for the Hawks to contain.

SJ Group 3: No. 13 Burlington Township (8-8-3) at No. 11 Moorestown (12-8), 2 p.m., Friday (at the Wesley Bishop synthetic turf field). These are two teams who benefited from the rugged competition of the Burlington County Liberty Division. Defending sectional champion Moorestown won both regular season meetings, 2-0 and 1-0. Burlington Township junior Christian Montemore has scored a goal in each of the Falcons' three one-goal playoff wins. Moorestown is led by Pablo Zegarra, who has 13 goals and six assists and had the game-winner in the Quakers' 1-0 semifinal victory over Point Pleasant Boro.

SJ Group 4: No. 6 Toms River South (15-5-1) at No. 4 Lenape, 2 p.m., Friday. South has provided late heroics throughout the postseason. In the South Jersey Group 4 semifinal, South trailed Toms River East, 1-0, at halftime but came back for a 2-1 win when Dan Chrashewsky headed in the winning goal in the second overtime. In the quarterfinal 1-0 win over Cherry Hill West, South scored with 21 seconds left in regulation. This is a scrappy team that never gives up. Lenape midfielder Giovanni Tacconelli (9 goals, 13 assists) is a top distributor and Rocco Gambino (23 goals) is a proven finisher. Gambino has four goals in the Indians' three playoff wins.

Central Jersey Group 2: No. 2 Delran at No. 1 Raritan (15-1-2), 2 p.m., Friday. Delran must keep in check highly touted Salvatore Liguori, who had three goals in the Rockets' 4-2 semifinal win over Shore Regional. Dominic Nocito, who has 11 goals, is a clutch scorer for Delran and Joe Hackimer is on a roll with five goals in his last four games. Delran is the defending state Group 2 co-champion and the Bears have scored two goals in each of their three tournament wins.

Central Jersey Group 4: No. 2 Rancocas Valley (19-2-3) at No. 1 Toms River North (15-2-2). North eliminated the defending Central Jersey Group 4 champions with a 1-0 semifinal win over North Brunswick on a goal by Jeff Scheck. Now the Mariners will try to eliminate the defending SJ Group 4 champs, no easy task. Rancocas Valley has a dynamic offense, led by Manny Payton (20 goals) and Alec Golini (16 goals, 16 assists). The Red Devils have scored 11 goals in their three playoff wins.

SJ Non-Public A: No. 2 Christian Brothers Academy (16-3-2) vs. No. 1 St. Augustine (21-1), 6 p.m., Thursday at Holmdel. This is a rematch of last year's sectional final, won by St. Augustine, 1-0. It figures to be another one-goal game. CBA has great depth. Scott Beaty, who had both assists in a 2-1 semifinal win over Notre Dame, is a player St. Augustine can't allow to run free. St. Augustine is led by junior midfielder Connor Hurff (14 goals, 20 assists) and Ryan McFadden (16 goals).

SJ Non-Public B: No. 2 Sacred Heart (16-2) vs. No. 1 St. Rose (18-3), 5 p.m., Thursday at Eastern. This is the eighth sectional final in the last nine years for St. Rose, which lost to Sacred Heart, 3-2, in last year's sectional final. Sacred Heart is the defending state champion and the Lions will be difficult to unseat. Nick Gazzara has scored a team-high 28 goals for Sacred Heart. As was the case last year, this game should be an offensive show for both teams.
