S.J. girls: Winslow Twp. wins its first Olympic Conference Patriot Title

In 2000, Edgewood High School became Winslow Township High School. In the sixteen years since the switch, the school's girls' basketball team had never won an Olympic Conference Patriot title.

In the sixteen years since the switch, the school's girls' basketball team had never won an Olympic Conference Patriot title.

That was until Thursday, when the visiting Eagles defeated Timber Creek, 45-32.

Amiaya Melvins paced Winslow Township with 19 points and Jalissa Pitts added eight points.

In other Olympic Conference action, Maddie Sims scored 17 points for Lenape in a 58-43 win over visiting Washington Township. Kendall Keyes added 12 points for the Indians.

Brianna Capacchione made three three-pointers, leading all scorers with 18 points in the losing effort.

Isabella Therien scored a team-high 17 points to lead host Cherokee over Cherry Hill East, 63-25. Shaye McGoey also posted double digits, scoring 11 points.

Sam Scarpello made three three-point buckets en route to 11 points as host Seneca rolled Cherry Hill West, 49-17. Rachel Roseboro scored 14 points.

Burlington County League. Gabby Smalls posted 15 points, 24 rebounds, four assists and eight blocked shots, powering Pemberton to a 65-50 win at Florence.

Shavonne Smith scored 15 points and Breanna Phillips-Taylor scored 13 points.

Holy Cross' Mary Kiefner scored 12 points as the hosts downed Burlington Township, 44-14.

Morgan Morocco recorded seven points, 12 rebounds and three assists.

Tri-County Conference. The trio of Monika Concepcion-McGrath, Mackenzie McCracken and Maddie McCracken lifted Wildwood over host Schalick, 50-39. Concepcion- McGrath scored nine points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Mackenzie McCraken posted 17 points and 13 rebounds. Maddie McCracken totaled 11 points and four rebounds.

Cape-Atlantic Consolation. Ayanna Jones scored 14 points, shooting 6 for 8 from the foul line, and Holy Spirit downed host St. Joseph, 45-25. Cass Gallagher added nine points.

Nonleague. Emily and Molly Fendrick each scored 11 points to lead Eastern to a 44-40 win over visiting Willingboro.

Highland's Ayanna Bey scored 11 points and added 13 rebounds in a 49-40 win over visiting Pennsauken. Azana Baines scored seven points and grabbed 19 rebounds.

Wykira Johnson led all scorers with 22 points for host Delsea in a 60-43 win over Woodbury. Glory Morton scored 13 points.

Aniyah Bagby scored 21 points and Nancia Holmes scored 11 points as Paulsboro downed host Glassboro, 60-24.
