Defense carries Burlington Twp. past Willingboro

Led by Sirvon Wigglesworth's standout performance, a staunch Burlington Township defense dominated in a 15-0 win over visiting Willingboro. Wigglesworth wreaked havoc on the Willingboro offense, making five tackles for loss and a sack in the West Jersey League Patriot Division game.

But it wasn't just Wigglesworth making plays.

The Falcons defense had eight tackles for a loss, two interceptions, and two sacks.

The victory guarantees Burlington Township, The Inquirer's 23d-ranked team in South Jersey, at least a tie for the Patriot League title. A win against visiting Ewing on Nov. 6 would clinch the outright champion.

In other WJFL Patriot play:

Scott Senechai rushed for 118 yards, including a 76-yard scamper for a touchdown, on nine carries, and visiting Northern Burlington defeated Lawrence, 49-21.

WJFL Colonial. Iverson Clement scored three touchdowns on the ground in Rancocas Valley's 42-14 victory over visiting Allentown. Clement finished with 96 yards rushing. Domenick Gran hauled in four catches for 99 yards, highlighted by a 58-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Mangene.

WJFL National. Anthony Seas did it all for No. 17 Kingsway in a 35-8 win at Pennsauken. He rushed for two touchdowns and caught a 64-yard scoring pass from Peter Orio.

WJFL Diamond. Ja'yon Mejias completed only nine of 17 passes for Penns Grove in its 54-14 rout of visiting Gloucester Catholic, but he passed for 300 yards and four touchdowns. Kimere Brown caught four touchdowns passes. He had six receptions for 251 yards.

WJFL Freedom. Max Smyth threw three touchdown to Taj Harris in a 61-33 win for host Palmyra over Riverside. Smyth also had a touchdown pass to Kelvin Harmon, who returned a punt 40 yards for a touchdown.

WJFL Classic. Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 13 times for 87 yards, and No. 16 Salem defeated visiting Wildwood, 42-6. Jameel Bundy scored two touchdowns, taking one in from 10 yards out, and tossing another 56 yards to Teron Nance.

WJFL Constitution. Nick DiVietro ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Cherry Hill West rallied to defeat host Moorestown, 14-7. Andrew Valentin connected with Harrison Hand for a touchdown.

Colonial League Patriot. Matt DiOrio's five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) led the way for host Haddon Heights in a 43-14 win over Haddon Township.
