S. Jersey Boys: S.J. girls: Haddonfield clinches Colonial crown

Haddonfield captured its first Colonial Conference soccer title since 2012 with a 6-0 win Thursday at conference rival Paulsboro. Sam DeCencio, Wyatt Dugan, Jack Dugan, Matt Fell, Noah Kamerling, and Jack Roberts scored.

It was the Bulldawgs' 14th shutout this season and 12th in conference play. Haddonfield coach Ryan Nixon attributed a large part of his team's success to its defense - led by seniors Cole Fabbri, Rich Bond, Cole Pollack, and junior Albert Pera.

"They work together seamlessly," said Nixon, who captured his first conference title as head coach. "They fight for each other. We have the character of a team that will go far."

Haddonfield, the fourth-ranked team in South Jersey by The Inquirer, is 16-0-1 overall and 14-0-1 in the league.

In other Colonial Conference action:

Chris Kobsar and Sean Murphy scored to lift Haddon Township over host Collingswood, 2-1. Jared Green had an assist. Kieran Burns made seven saves. David Gongora scored for Collingswood.

Jesus Cardenas scored twice for Lindenwold in a 6-1 win at Overbrook. Nelson Miranda scored and had two assists. Hernan Benitez, Secundino Chirino, and Oumar Sylla each scored and had an assist.

Burlington County. Trent Hall scored off a rebound from Chris Scoglio to lead No. 3 Rancocas Valley to a 1-0 victory over sixth-ranked visitor Burlington Township. Dylan Mohan made four saves to earn the shutout.

Damien Jennings scored the winner with two minutes remaining in double overtime to give Palmyra a 2-1 victory at Burlington City.

Pat Harkansan and Mat Shaddow scored for Holy Cross in a 2-1 win over visiting Pemberton. James Papeika recorded an assist. Ryan McGee registered nine saves. Nazir Britt scored for Pemberton.

Christopher Ramos-Bermeo's second-half goal stood as the difference in Medford Tech's 1-0 shutout at Maple Shade.

Olympic. Jackson Goldman, Caleb Longshaw, and Brian Lorenz had goals to aid No. 10 Shawnee in a 3-2 win at Cherry Hill East. Luke Morgan dished out two assists. Dalton Wu made six saves. Josh Salkin scored for Cherry Hill East and assisted on Tommaso Cavallo's goal. Olin McClendon assisted on Salkin's goal.

Will Connolly scored twice to lead top-ranked Washington Township in a 4-0 shutout of visiting Lenape. George Charalabidis and Brent Keeley added goals. Scott Graham had two assists. Matt Tini made four saves.

Tri-County Classic. Angel Castelan and Fernando Marinero scored to give host Clayton the 2-1 edge over Wildwood. Lamont Anderson had an assist. Tyler Tomlin scored off an assist from Will Helm for Wildwood.

Cross-Country

Ocean City's Patrick Cusack finished the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 24 seconds to claim first place and help his team win the Cape May County championship at Cape May County Park.

Atlantic County Championship. Hammonton's Joseph Dougherty placed first in 15:19 as the Blue Devils captured the title at Hammonton Lake Park.

Wrestling

Eastern has named Brian Boland its head coach after he served as an assistant coach for 10 seasons.

Boland replaces Bobby Stinson, who resigned in October.
