PLAYER OF THE YEAR / FORWARD

Austyn Cuneo

EASTERN

Cuneo made history in high school field hockey, destroying records left and right as the nation's leading career goal-scorer with 328 and adding 94 assists. This season, the senior scored 95 goals for the Vikings, leading them to their 16th straight state championship. She never lost a game or went scoreless in her high school career, winning four straight Tournament of Champions titles and helping extend Eastern's unbeaten streak to 106 games.

Cuneo walked onto the field knowing she would be man-marked for the entire game, but she refused to lose focus on scoring and leading her team to success. Her dominant presence and rocket shot were an unfair match for any goalie, making it a huge task to save one of Cuneo's shots.

While her natural talent spoke for itself, her leadership was just as impressive. She served as a role model for other players and demanded that they give maximum effort. She will attend North Carolina and play field hockey.

The senior will continue her career at Princeton.

FORWARD

Hall

COLLINGSWOOD

The senior was the backbone of Collingswood this season, with an impressive 102 saves. She helped lead the Panthers to the Colonial Conference championship, aggressively coming out of the cage to stop attackers and reading the ball with ease to make significant saves. Hall more than doubled her number of saves from the previous year, giving her a career total of 196.

MIDFIELD

Kelly Hanna

MIDFIELD

Jane

Hatzell

COLLINGSWOOD

Hatzell often was overshadowed by the numbers put up by dominant players in the area, but her solid defensive presence led Collingswood to a 20-4 record. The senior captain was not a high scorer, but was easily one of the hardest-working players in South Jersey. She consistently threw her body into plays, refusing to allow attackers to get past her.

FORWARD

SHAWNEE

Duncan led the Renegades to a 14-5-1 record with 29 goals and 13 assists this year, despite having missed her junior season because of a broken foot. DEFENSE

Lauren McNally

OCEAN CITY

The senior led Ocean City to two consecutive state Group 3 titles, collecting 31 goals and 25 assists this year. Although her team lost the state final in overtime, she recorded a hat trick.
