S. Jersey Girls: Thurs. S.J. girls: McNeil scores first goal, but West Deptford wins

McNeil, a junior in Lindenwold's special-education program, played in the first soccer game of her life during West Deptford's 6-1 Colonial Conference victory.

She also scored her first goal.

With a comfortable lead, the Eagles pulled their goalie late. McNeil, who regularly practices with the Lions, dribbled down the field and scored.

"It was cool to see a group of high school girls come together for a good cause," Jones said.

Olympic American. Amirah Ali had a goal and an assist as host Eastern beat Cherry Hill West, 3-1, to clinch the Olympic Conference American Division for the third consecutive year.

Olympic National. Tziarra King netted a hat trick for Winslow Township, which beat visiting Bishop Eustace, 3-1.

Tri-County Royal. Ashley Engler, Alexa Giagunto, and Gabbi Kirsch scored in Williamstown's 3-1 victory at Hammonton.

Burlington County. Kellyn Weist struck twice, and Cinnaminson beat New Egypt, 7-0, on the road in an interdivision game.

C.J. 3 Field Hockey

Maria DiCoccio scored two goals, including the eventual winner, as the Burlington Township field hockey team won at Toms River South, 3-2, in the Central Jersey Group 3 quarterfinals.

Megan Currier added a goal for the fifth-seeded Falcons, who upset the No. 4 Indians. DiCoccio and Gracyn Banks each had an assist.

Moorestown 7, Hamilton 0 - Paige Powell recorded a hat trick as the top-seeded Quakers shut out the No. 9 Hornets at home.

Susan Orth collected a goal and two assists.

Avery Powell and Erin McIlhenny each had a goal and an assist.

S.J. 4 Field Hockey

Sabrina Solomen picked up two goals and an assist in fifth-seeded Shawnee's 4-2 quarterfinal victory at No. 4 Egg Harbor Township. Olivia Drea and Gianna Mancini also scored. Gianna Glatz stopped 16 shots.

S.J. 3 Field Hockey

Michaela Hitchner knocked in two goals as fourth-seeded Cumberland blanked No. 5 Lacey at home, 3-0, in the quarterfinals. Gillian Nardelli put in the other goal. Abigail DiJoseph had two assists.

In other quarterfinals:

Hammonton 10, GCIT 1 - Jane Donio-Enscoe deposited four goals for the top-seeded Blue Devils, who rolled at home against the No. 8 Cheetahs.

Giana Mortellite scored twice. Madison Mathes made six saves.

Ocean City 8, Mainland 0 - Lauren McNally had a hat trick as the second-seeded Red Raiders blanked the visiting Mustangs, who were seeded seventh.
