Sat. S.J. football: Gloucester gets past Salem

Quarterback Marc Seibert gave his team the lead with his arm and won the game with his legs Saturday. Seibert hit Justin Graves in the third quarter for a 9-yard touchdown pass to give Gloucester a two-point lead at Salem.

Later in the quarter, he scored what proved to be the winning touchdown on a 38-yard scamper down the field, sending the Lions to a 24-20 win in a West Jersey Classic matchup.

Seibert finished 6 for 7 with 71 passing yards and the touchdown to Graves. He also carried the ball seven times for 100 yards and two scores.

Graves had 23 rushes for 76 yards, two catches for 30 yards and a score, and an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Freshman Zaire Jones had two rushing touchdowns for Salem.

West Jersey American. Johnathan Lovett opened the scoring with a 98-yard kickoff return as Cherokee, ranked No. 4 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, won at Eastern, 38-19. Lovett added a 6-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Teammate Marc Woodard added rushing touchdowns of 29 and 2 yards. The Chiefs scored all their points in the first half.

West Jersey National. Casimir Phillips found the end zone twice as No. 7 Hammonton took down Pennsauken on the road, 28-12.

Quarterback John Triboletti was responsible for the other two Blue Devils scores. He capped a 95-yard drive with a 22-yard run in the second quarter and later hit Kelvin Rivera for a 40-yard touchdown pass.

West Jersey Liberty. Chris Liggio scored on a 19-yard run to help host No. 13 Holy Cross win at Pemberton, 28-10.

Colonial Liberty. Senior running back Davon Tucker had touchdowns of 4 and 66 yards to help Sterling take down Audubon, 38-0.
