Then Katie Varela lined up for a penalty kick.

Varela booted the ball to the back of the net to give host Moorestown a 1-0 win over Bordentown in a Burlington County League interdivision girls' soccer game Saturday.

She was awarded the penalty kick after a Bordentown defender was penalized for a handball.

Charlie Blessing recorded her third shutout of the season.

In another Burlington County League matchup, Madison Conroy, Lily Garrett, and Madison Hartman scored in Palmyra's 3-0 victory at Pennsauken.

Burlington Liberty. Caroline Casey, Juliann Gee, and Josie O'Donnell netted first-half goals to give Holy Cross, ranked No. 4 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, a 3-1 victory over Burlington Township at home.

Cassie Skelton blocked seven shots.

Olympic National. Skylar Davis and Dani LeSaint scored second-half goals during Seneca's 2-0 win at Paul VI.

Samantha Andrews earned the shutout with seven saves.

Cape-Atlantic National. Alexis Mankow's first-half goal was enough for Cedar Creek, which edged visiting St. Joseph, 1-0.

Darby Langel had five saves in recording the shutout.

Nonleague. Gabrielle Masciocchi scored both goals in No. 5 Williamstown's 2-0 win at Ocean City.

Ashley Enger and Gianna Pomykacz had the assists. Taylor Bynoe recorded five saves in the shutout.

Boys' Soccer

Pat McCarthy knocked in two goals to lead Cinnaminson to a 5-1 victory at New Egypt in the Burlington County League.

Allen Barrett, Darnell Brown, and Mark Staudenmayer were the other goal-scorers. Staudenmayer also had two assists, and Mike Deal registered six saves.

Vinny Masitti scored for New Egypt.

Nonleague. Timothy Hunt scored in the second half to give Delran a 1-0 home win over Peddie School.

Ryan Ferreira assisted on the goal.
