The smallest player on the field helped Eastern pull the biggest upset of the boys' soccer season on Wednesday afternoon.

The smallest player on the field helped Eastern pull the biggest upset of the boys' soccer season on Wednesday afternoon.

Early in the second half, Zach Jung, all 5-foot-9 of him, went up and beat four other players and headed in a throw-in, giving the Vikings the lead for good in what would become a 2-1 Olympic American victory over visiting Washington Township.

"How he got it through, I don't know," Eastern coach Steve Kosyla said. "I'm not sure he knows."

Washington Township is ranked No. 1 in South Jersey by The Inquirer.

Eastern actually entered the break up by 1-0, after Logan Edwards ripped in a volley from Billy Walenda from 20 yards.

The Minutemen tied it two minutes into the second half on a goal by Ed McCusker.

Jung answered with his header a few minutes later.

Later, McCusker missed the tying goal by two inches when his header went just wide.

"The gods were with us today," Kosyla said.

It was the first win of the season for Eastern (1-1-1). Washington Township fell to 3-1.

"I told them the pressure is all on them," Kosyla said. "If we lose, everybody expects it and it's back-page news. If we win, we make the front page."
