With Braves shortstop and captain Ryann Guy out with a leg injury suffered in Friday's win at Wildwood Catholic, Roesch was called on to fill the void.

The freshman slugged a leadoff home run down the left-field line to spark a 10-2 win over Deptford in the first round of the Overbrook Tournament on Saturday.

Roesch finished the day 3 for 5 at the plate, knocking in three runs and scoring once. Taylor Martin added three hits and scored a run.

Braves lefthander Bobbie Beck threw a complete game, striking out 12 batters and walking only one. It was the second solid start that the sophomore had registered in two days, as she pitched her first career shutout against Wildwood Catholic on Friday.

Absegami improved to 3-5 this season with its second straight victory. The Braves will host Overbrook in the tournament quarterfinals Sunday.

In other tournament action, Northern Burlington defeated host Eastern, 3-1. Morgan Clauser pitched seven innings of one-hit ball and helped her cause by going 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Rancocas Valley Tournament. Audubon bested St. Joseph in an eight-inning game, 6-5.

Alison Guldin earned the win and knocked in two runs at the plate. Dominique D'Andrea went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for St. Joseph.

Also in the RV tournament:

Lynnsie Collins went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs for Buena as the team defeated Williamstown, 11-2. Sam Fiocchi, Vicky Battelini, and Asyiah Cintron each doubled in the Chiefs' victory.

New Egypt blanked Vineland, 6-0, behind a solid performance from pitcher Jenna Rodriguez. The senior threw seven innings, allowing only four hits. At the plate, Rodriguez knocked in a run with two hits.

Moorestown Tournament. In the championship round, Moorestown defeated Cherry Hill East, 6-2. Caroline Muccifiori was 3 for 4 with a run scored, and Gabby O'Byrne knocked in two runs on two hits for the Quakers.

Clayton Classic. Zeaenna Bracket was named the tournament MVP, going 2 for 2 with a double and scoring three runs for Woodbury in a 6-0 win over host Clayton in the final.

Serena Turco earned the victory for the Thundering Herd, pitching a six-hit shutout and striking out seven.

Nonleague. Behind a strong seven innings from Abbey Scarengelli, Cherokee picked up a 4-1 triumph at Bordentown.

Tracia Griffin went 1 for 4 with an RBI for the Chiefs.

Olympic National. Jamie Robinson pitched a perfect game Friday, striking out 10 of the first 15 batters she faced, as Cherry Hill West shut out Winslow Township, 12-0.

Elena Vaughan had two hits and knocked in three runs.

Lacrosse

Lawrenceville won a close one, 13-10, at Hill School in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League game.

Jane Kirby netted six goals, and Jess Castelo and Reilly Flecher each scored twice.

Nonleague. Collingswood defeated host Maple Shade, 15-4. Madison Downing led Collingswood with five goals. Alyssa Bradley and Krista LaMaina each put three in the net for the Panthers.
