Fri. S.J. boys: Gateway ekes out win
The Gateway boys' basketball team held the lead for just 3.4 seconds Friday at Palmyra, but it was all the Gators needed as sophomore Dan Kline tossed in the game-winning layup in a thrilling, 37-36 nonleague victory.
Following Kline's transition bucket, junior center RJ Blanton drew a charge at the buzzer to snuff out Palmyra's attempt at a final shot.
Also in nonleague action:
Glassboro entered the fourth down by six points and rode a 20-point final frame to a 43-37, come-from-behind win over visiting Gloucester.
Senior guard Brandon Rembert scored 28 points and classmate Stacy Thomas had 18 with 10 rebounds as Pennsauken Tech breezed by Camden County Tech at home, 73-51.
Cape-Atlantic. Holy Spirit's Junior Saintel scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Spartans' 51-45 Cape-Atlantic League quarterfinal upset of host Wildwood Catholic.
Michael Greenman's 16 points led a balanced St. Augustine team to victory as the third-seeded Hermits easily disposed of visiting sixth-seeded Hammonton, 65-42, in their quarterfinal matchup.
Tri-County. Wildwood guard Francis Christian ran the Warriors' offense smoothly in a 74-59 home win over Salem. The senior scored 27 points and added nine assists.
Burlington County. Miles Powell buried three threes and scored 27 points for Medford Tech, earning coach Nick Powell his 100th career victory, an 81-47 rout of visiting Westampton Tech.
