Haddon Heights finishes unbeaten in league

Shayla Sweeney struck out 10 over five innings and batted 2 for 3 with two RBIs and one run scored, while Chelsea Thomas (3 for 5, two RBIs) and Mattie McCleery (2 for 3, RBI) each scored three times for the Liberty Division champion Garnets (21-5 overall).

Also in the Colonial, Audubon locked up the Patriot Division crown with a dramatic 5-3, 10-inning victory at Overbrook.

The Green Wave pushed across three runs in the 10th on RBI singles by Hunter Urban and Cara Garcia, and an error that allowed Sara Urban to race home.

Hunter Urban struck out 13 in going the distance for the win.

Lacrosse

Top-seeded Washington Township stormed out to a 10-3 halftime lead and never looked back, rolling over No. 8 seed Toms River North, 16-5, in a South Jersey Group 4 quarterfinal.

Megan Tiernan's four-goal, one-assist effort led the Minutemaids' balanced attack, which also featured Brittany Bollendorf (3 goals, 1 assist) and Christina Brennan (2 goals, 2 assists).

Washington Township advances to Tuesday's semifinal round against fifth-seeded Jackson Memorial, which had two players score six goals apiece in a 15-7 rout of No. 13 seed Cherokee.

On the other side of the Group 4 bracket, second-seeded Lenape and third-seeded Clearview cruised to easy wins.

Rena Carabases pumped in six goals, Emmy Duffey dealt five assists, and Caroline Huelster made 11 saves as Lenape doubled up No. 7 seed Freehold Township, 14-7.

Clearview's Julie Sutton picked apart the Brick Memorial defense for eight goals, as the Pioneers seized command early and went on to bury the No. 6 seed, 20-9.

Kim Tumolo (four goals), Allison McCardell (three goals) and Gianna Bowe (two goals) also starred in Clearview's highest-scoring performance of the season.

South Jersey Group 2. No area team made it past the quarterfinal round.

Five goals by Tori Shinkowitz were not enough to keep No. 9 seed Sterling from falling, 19-6, at top-seeded Red Bank Catholic.

Seventh-seeded West Deptford saw Jess Hill record a hat trick and Emily Whalin contribute three assists, but the Eagles couldn't overcome an early six-goal deficit in suffering a 15-5 loss at No. 2 seed Allentown.

Three days after erupting for 28 goals in an opening-round romp, sixth-seeded Cinnaminson found the going a bit tougher as No. 3 seed Manasquan dominated from start to finish, 17-5.
