GCIT's softball team completed a four-game sweep over two days by blanking Clearview, 5-0, in Saturday's championship game of the Coaches for Cancer Tournament at Triton.

Erynn Sobieski tossed a one-hit shutout and received all the offensive support she would need on a three-run, pinch-hit home run by Lexy Fair in the fourth inning. Michele Civile added a run-scoring single in the fifth, and Taylor Favinger closed out the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.

Dominique Dorris had the lone hit for Clearview.

The two teams also met earlier in the day, with GCIT coming out on top, 3-2.

The Cheetahs jumped on top in the first inning on a two-run double by Claire Lucas, and Taylor Thomas (3 for 3) scored the eventual winning run on Civile's single in the third.

Ocean County Tournament. Starter Alison Martino (eight strikeouts) combined with reliever Jenna Rodriguez on a one-hit shutout, and Jamie Soles contributed four hits, five RBIs, and two runs scored as top-seeded New Egypt coasted to a 16-0 quarterfinal win at home against Point Pleasant Boro.

Rodriguez also had a productive day at the plate, driving in three runs with four hits, while Samantha Bendick scored four times.

Burlington County League Tournament. Taylor Dorman's lead-off bunt single in the first inning was the only hit host Pemberton could manage off Holy Cross freshman Sarah Byham, who went on to post her sixth consecutive win in pitching the No. 10 seed Lancers to a 12-1 first-round rout of the seventh-seeded Hornets.

Taylor Cowan doubled twice in going 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Katie Gurba went 3 for 3 and knocked in two runs for Holy Cross.

In another opening-round game, Laura Gould drove in two runs with a single and a homer for 12th-seeded Burlington Township, which rode a seven-run second inning to a 12-9 win at No. 5 seed Westampton Tech.

Lacrosse

Haddonfield's No. 8 ranking in The Inquirer's South Jersey Top 10 was very much in doubt until the Bulldogs roared back from a four-goal halftime deficit to edge host Cherokee, 13-12, in an Olympic Conference match.

Gretchen Kiep, Carolyn Clark, and Maddie Kiep combined for nine goals for Haddonfield, while Michelle Gonzales' four goals paced the Chiefs.
