Fri. S.J. boys' roundup: Moorestown mauls Montgomery

The Quakers (3-1 overall, 2-1 conference) ran out to a 5-1 lead, but Montgomery battled back to pull even at intermission.

Moorestown ended the match on a 10-1 run, with major contributions from Matt Olbrich (4 goals), Ryan Volosin (3 goals), and Drew Hillman (1 goal, 3 assists).

Olympic. Eighth-ranked West Deptford also picked up the pace in the second half, outscoring host Gloucester Catholic by six down the stretch to close out a 15-7 victory.

Zach Kaestner led the Eagles attack with four goals and four assists, Brian Monaghan scored four times, and Nick Baud contributed two goals and five assists in support of goalie Bradon Gill (15 saves). Tyler Graham had a hat trick for the Rams.

Baseball

Gloucester Catholic, The Inquirer's top-ranked team in South Jersey, rebounded from Thursday's first loss of the season to defeat Dougherty Valley, Calif., 10-5, at the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic in Las Vegas.

John Brue drove in four runs with three hits, and Joe Brooks batted 3 for 3 and scored twice for the Rams.

Mingo Bay Classic. Keith Michalski doubled, homered, and drove in three runs as Audubon blanked Waccamaw, S.C., to finish third in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Burlington County. John Adryan opened a long-ball assault with a solo blast in the first inning, and teammates Jon Mackie and Joe Hummell added inside-the-park homers in carrying Holy Cross to a 10-3 triumph at Riverside.

Tri-County. Troy Siebert batted 4 for 6 with two doubles and a home run, and Dylan Rush doubled twice in going 4 for 5 as Salem slammed host Penns Grove, 20-8.

Cape-Atlantic. Brent Theriault stole three bases and Cody Stashak swiped a pair, and the tandem teamed up to produce four hits, four runs, and two RBIs in leading host Oakcrest over Cedar Creek, 5-2.

Holvin Figueroa's two-run double in the eighth inning made Sacred Heart a 4-3 winner at Millville. Brandon Triantos earned the save by stranding three runners, inducing a fly out to end the game.
