Wed. S.J. boys' roundup: Eustace storms past Camden Catholic

Chris Jones ripped a bases-loaded, two-out triple in the top of the seventh inning, capping a late-game outburst that gave Bishop Eustace an 8-2 win at Camden Catholic on Wednesday in Olympic Conference baseball.

Winning pitcher Keith Wallace also tripled in batting 3 for 4 for the Crusaders, who broke open a scoreless duel in the sixth.

Also in the Olympic, Jordan Glover's two-run single ignited a five-run, sixth-inning rally, and Paul LaRosa pitched two scoreless innings of relief to send host Cherokee past Timber Creek, 7-3.

Cape-Atlantic. Denny Olsen (2 for 3, three RBIs) belted a two-run home run in the first inning, and sophomore Josh Pennington struck out nine in going the distance for his first varsity win as host Lower Cape May doubled up Oakcrest, 6-3.

Burlington County. Riverside relied on youth to trounce host Trenton Catholic, 22-2.

Sam Guckin pitched three hitless innings, drove in two runs, and scored twice, fellow freshman Tanner Clifford contributed three hits and three runs, and sophomores Christian Stackhouse and Collin Romero combined for three doubles, three runs, and three RBIs.

Bishop Gorman Easter Classic. Rob Alessandrine found the desert air to his liking, going 3 for 3 with two singles and a home run, scoring three times and driving in a pair of runs as Gloucester Catholic began its Las Vegas stay with a 17-4 rout of Whittier (Cal.).

Joe Brooks (3 for 3, three runs, two RBIs) also starred in the Rams' 14-hit assault.

Mingo Bay Classic. Andrew Schorr put all of his offensive talents on display, doubling twice in batting 4 for 4, stealing two bases, scoring two runs, and knocking in a pair to highlight Audubon's 11-0 romp over Loris (S.C.) in Myrtle Beach.

Trevor Tassi yielded three hits, struck out three, and didn't walk a batter in fashioning the five-inning shutout.

Also in Myrtle Beach, Nick Ciocco had two hits and three RBIs and Alex Kramer laced a run-scoring triple to lead Cherry Hill East over Monsignor McClancy (N.Y.), 11-1.

Nonleague. Highland began its trip to Fort Pierce, Fla., by winning twice - rolling over Stuyvesant (N.Y.), 18-0, and squeezing past West Windsor-Plainsboro South (N.J.), 3-1.

The Tartans backed pitcher Frank Angeloni with a dozen hits in the opener, and saw Tyler Allen wriggle out of a bases-loaded, seventh-inning jam in the nightcap.

Brenden Delmonte's bases-loaded triple in the third inning started Cherry Hill West on its way to a 7-0 victory at Williamstown.

Greg Morano knocked in four runs with a single and a double, Bobby Barbieri added two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, and host Hammonton used a 10-run fourth inning to finish off Seneca, 17-2.

The trio of Tyler Shulte, Dan O'Keefe and Dylan Shulte produced a dozen goals and four assists for host Seneca, which scored nine times in the second quarter to pull away from Paul VI, 19-8, in the Olympic Conference.

The Eagles' Sam Jarvis had four goals.
