Tues. S.J. boys' and girls' roundup: Camden Catholic outslugs Paul VI

Catcher Ned Kerr (double) and first baseman Pat Petrongolo (home run) each picked up his 100th career hit for the Eagles.

The Irish relied on the long ball in seizing an early 9-2 lead, getting a two-run homer by Joey Craig in the first inning and a grand slam from Dom Messina in the third.

Christian Bilan and Matt McElhatton each batted 3 for 4 and combined for three runs and three RBIs for Camden Catholic.

In other Olympic baseball:

Cameron Bahr's second double of the day - a two-run rope in the top of the seventh inning - enabled Seneca to hold off host Timber Creek, 5-3.

Brian Lawler knocked in two runs with a pair of singles for host Shawnee, which scored nine times in the second inning en route to wiping out Winslow Township, 12-4.

Winning pitcher Mike Marchitto had three of Eastern's 16 hits in an 8-2 triumph at Bishop Eustace.

Burlington County. Frank Bilancio's three-run homer ignited a five-run third inning, giving host Northern Burlington just enough cushion to outlast Pemberton, 6-5.

Along with aiding Cinnaminson's 22-hit attack, Marty McDonald (3 for 3, 3 runs) struck out nine and tossed a three-hitter as the Pirates cruised, 20-2, at Westampton Tech. Jon McGugan led the charge, going 4 for 5 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Jordan Campbell and winning pitcher Sean Sharkey each batted 3 for 4 with five RBIs and Sam Guckin knocked in four runs with three hits, powering host Riverside past Maple Shade, 22-9.

Tommy Walters (3 for 3) and Gerald Conover accounted for all seven RBIs for Bordentown, as the host Scotties downed Delran, 7-1.

Cape-Atlantic. Robert Buenton's two-out RBI single in the sixth proved the difference, lifting host Buena over Sacred Heart, 4-3, and making a winner of reliever Jared Carniell.

Chris Milhan lined a two-out single to centerfield, brining home Dylan Martello with the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, allowing host Egg Harbor Township to rally past Absegami, 5-4.

Kyle Andrews struck out six and scattered five singles and one walk over seven innings, and his RBI hit in the fourth brought home the game's lone run as Ocean City won, 1-0, at Middle Township.

Jason Bergbauer contributed three hits and three RBIs as host St. Joseph sank Lower Cape May, 7-3.

Tri-County. Chris Giunta limited Deptford to four hits over six innings while scoring three times in GCIT's 9-1 road win.

New Jersey Vocational. Jeremy Lopez struck out eight and Gabriel DelValle drove in three runs, as Pennsauken Tech opened the tournament by mauling host Medford Tech, 12-2.

Nonleague. Jesse Fante singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, as Moorestown rallied late to pull out a 3-1 win at Robbinsville. Tyler Kaiser picked up the save in relief of Tim Miller.

Softball

Jacklyn Pezzato struck out 14 of the 15 batters she faced in pitching a perfect game for host Shawnee, which opened its season with a 16-0 rout of Winslow Township.

Lily Shontz doubled and drove in three runs for the Renegades in the Olympic Conference Patriot Division game, which was shortened to 41/2 innings because of the 15-run rule.

In other Olympic action:

Susan Wysocki settled down after yielding a first-inning run, striking out 13 Paul VI batters in pitching host Camden Catholic to a 5-1 win.

Ali Summers singled, tripled, stole a base, knocked in a run and scored twice for the Irish.

Host Washington Township whitewashed Cherry Hill East, 7-0, behind Abria Tinsley's one-hitter and a 3-for-3, two-RBI effort by Keli Margiotta.

Candice Dunn doubled twice in batting 3 for 4 with one run and one RBI, providing all the offensive support Brianna Fisher would need to pitch host Timber Creek past Seneca, 5-0.

Cape-Atlantic. Buena's Brittany Scott was credited with a perfect game when she fanned 11 over five innings in a 23-0 romp at Ocean City.

Scott and Kaitlyn Cooper each went 4 for 4 as the Chiefs banged out 20 hits, ending the game early with a 12-run rally in the fifth.

Colonial. Sophomore Kaitlyn Stoltz struck out eight and did not walk a batter in pitching her first no-hitter, as Haddon Township leveled host Lindenwold, 16-0, in five innings.

Alyssa Welsh surrendered a first-inning run before shutting down Woodbury on three hits the rest of the way, allowing Gateway to pull away to an 11-1 home win.

Zeaenna Brackett's bases-empty home run was the big blast for the Gators, for whom Alex Astorga, Ryan Hynds, and Allie Brady combined for seven RBIs, six hits, and three runs.

Hunter Urban pitched a one-hit shutout and knocked in six runs on a single, a triple, and a grand slam as host Audubon needed just three innings to put away Paulsboro, 19-0.

Chelsea Thomas's solo shot in the first inning started Haddon Heights on its way to a 7-5 victory at Overbrook.

Rachel McClasky's 3-for-4, four-RBI effort led the Rams.

Burlington County. Audrey Weller fanned 13 and walked two in pitching Moorestown to a 6-0 triumph at Cinnaminson.

Twin sisters Ariel and Taylor Schuck teamed up to go 5 for 6 at the plate with four runs and one RBI, helping host Burlington City pound Pemberton, 15-1.

Olivia White and freshman LeeAnn Perrottet combined to bat 6 for 8 with six RBIs and five runs for Palmyra, which scored 15 times in the third inning en route to a 21-1 thrashing of host Trenton Catholic.

Girls' Lacrosse

Nicole Troost, Keri White and Jill Chiachetti each had a hat trick for second-ranked Shawnee, which used an 11-3 second half to pull out a 15-10 win at No. 7 Eastern.

The Renegades' balanced attack also featured two goals apiece by Carly Demato, Glade Nugent, and Shannon Nugent. Austyn Cuneo scored three times for the Vikings.

Cape-Atlantic. Melissa Williams scored seven times - including her 100th career goal - to carry host Egg Harbor Township past Our Lady of Mercy, 14-10.

Boys' Lacrosse

Chris Kaczmarski had four goals and five assists for host Mainland, which scored 10 times in the third quarter in rolling over Cape-Atlantic League rival Vineland, 13-0.

Nonleague. Tyler Emery's six-goal outburst powered New Egypt past visiting Hamilton West, 14-2. Brian Donohue added a hat trick for the Warriors, who blew out to an 11-1 halftime lead.
