Fri. S.J. girls' roundup: Mainland tops Atlantic City in OT

The American Conference clash featured wild runs by both teams. The Mustangs wiped out an early six-point deficit with a 20-5 second-quarter surge, only to see Atlantic City climb back into contention with a 15-8 spree in the third quarter.

Sahara Lopez and Quadjira Carpenter combined to score 23 points for the Vikings.

In other Cape-Atlantic League action:

Starting in place of an injured teammate, senior guard Shaunna Como made the most of the opportunity by scoring 18 in the first quarter en route to a career-high 28 points, sending St. Joseph to a 54-31 win at Cape May Tech.

Kristine Miller (16 points), Mercina Stefanski (12) and Mikila Stefanski (10) supplied the bulk of the offense for Cedar Creek, which ran its record to 15-1 by mauling host Millville, 47-30.

Lauren Holden knocked down five three-point shots in scoring 25, and Lower Cape May picked up its defensive intensity in the second half to put away host Bridgeton, 50-38.

Karli Ernst and Anne Brewer each had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Ali Dandrea dealt six assists to go with her 12 points, as Our Lady of Mercy took command early and cruised past visiting Hammonton, 44-17.

Tri-County. Salem gained a share of the Classic Division lead, using clutch scoring by Kenya Woods (15 points) and Ariana Slaughter (13) to hold off visiting Pitman, 47-42.

Olympic. Eastern was buoyed by the interior play of senior center Cari Winiarski, who grabbed a dozen rebounds, shot 6 for 10 from the field and made 5 of 6 free throws in scoring 16 points, as the host Vikings extended their winning streak to four with a 50-34 decision over Bishop Eustace.

Burlington County. Alicia Bradley scored 18 and Simi Adewumi was a force at both ends of the floor, totaling 18 points, 17 rebounds and five steals, as host Burlington Township pounded Pemberton, 61-45.

The Falcons' Carin Arline filled the stat sheet with six points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals, helping offset a 20-point performance by Pemberton's Jasmine Smith.

Nonleague. Senior forward Kelly Roche reigned in the lane, producing game-highs of 16 points and 11 rebounds as Haddon Township crushed host Camden, 47-29.

Corrine Clements and Sara DeCinque added 10 points apiece for the Hawks, who seized control in an 18-4 game-opening run.

Maple Shade made quick work of Schalick, scoring the first 17 points of the game en route to a 45-32 road win.

Jackie McClellan had 11 points while Jill Dombrowski and Brittany Granahan contributed 10 points each.

Moriah Best got the better of Pennsauken Tech, tossing in 17 points to pace Palmyra to a 55-32 home win.

Junior forward Deja Bullock dominated the low post to the tune of 25 points and 14 rebounds, and host Triton celebrated its second win of the season by dispatching Overbrook, 49-38.

No scorers reached double figures in Bordentown's 47-28 triumph at Westampton Tech, which saw the Scotties put up 35 points over the final two quarters after managing just 12 in the first half.
