Thurs. S.J. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Hoskins hits 300

The assault on the South Jersey boys' basketball record book continued on Thursday, when Deptford's Bill Hoskins became the third area coach in as many days to achieve 300 career wins.

Hoskins reached the milestone in his 20th season, as Brandon West (21 points) and Nick Lawson (11) combined to make seven three-point baskets in the Spartans' 63-58 victory at Glassboro.

Kendall Chapman (12) and Devon Thompson (10) also scored in double figures for Deptford, which gained control of the Tri-County Conference Diamond Division game with a 23-14 third-quarter run.

Hoskins joined Jay Flanagan of Rancocas Valley and Ocean City's John Bruno, who celebrated their 300th wins on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Also in the Tri-County, Marcus Johnson's buzzer-beating three-pointer made Woodstown a 60-57 winner at GCIT.

Tyree Brown's torrid scoring pace picked up steam, as he poured in 32 points in Highland's 48-41 home win over Williamstown. Brown is averaging 29 points over his last four games.

Pitman maintained its Classic Division lead, riding Tim Delaney's 22 points to a 56-40 victory at Pennsville.

Olympic. Matt McElhatton made two free throws with 4.5 seconds remaining, giving Camden Catholic a 43-42 win at seventh-ranked Cherry Hill East.

Carson Puriefoy (21 points) and Sho DaSilva (18) ignited a second-half surge, allowing No. 4 Bishop Eustace to put away host Washington Township, 58-44.

Sixth-ranked Lenape managed just three points over the opening eight minutes, but bounced back with a 15-2 run that propelled the Indians to a 64-53 win at Winslow Township. Evan Ward (16 points), Sawyer Hand (14), Avery Brown (12) and Tabu Gaither (10) offset a 22-point outburst by the Eagles' Adonius Melvins.

Timber Creek's Dominique Reid scored 11 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, and the Chargers shifted into another gear in overtime to finish off host Seneca, 63-53.

Rodney Williams totaled 30 points, seven rebounds and five steals in guiding host Cherry Hill West past Camden, 59-47.

Burlington County. Lloyd Smith had 11 of his 20 points in a 32-12 fourth-quarter comeback - a stretch that saw Holy Cross convert seven three-point shots - as the Lancers shocked host Cinnaminson, 60-58.

Nonleague. Third-ranked Willingboro placed five scorers in double figures, led by Tyrell Maloney's 21 points, in pounding visiting Pennsauken, 88-59.

Sara DeCinque scored 8 of her 21 points in a 20-9 first-quarter run, starting host Haddon Township on its way to a 65-51 triumph over Paulsboro.

Bella Preziosi scored 16, Kelly Roche posted a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Alayxiah Carr contributed 13 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks, who extended their Colonial Conference Patriot Division lead to three games. Tia Scott scored 16 for the second-place Red Raiders.

Gateway leveled host Lindenwold, 50-26, behind the tandem of Alisha Fox (24 points) and Colleen Connolly (18).

Burlington County. Ashli Jeune had 17 points, including four three-pointers, and fourth-ranked Holy Cross placed three other scorers in double figures in a 61-43 victory over visiting Cinnaminson. Nijha Treadwell netted a game-high 23 points for the Pirates.

Jackie McClellan tossed in 18 points for Freedom Division-leading Maple Shade, which built an early 18-point lead in coasting to a 46-28 triumph at Florence.

Tri-County. Taylor Blackiston's putback with 9 seconds left made host Gloucester a 24-23 winner over Clayton. The Classic Division-leading Lions avenged a 27-25 loss to Clayton, thanks to 12 points by Johanna James and a combined 18 rebounds from Madison McClintock and Blackiston.

Cheyenne Clark grabbed 22 rebounds and scored 10 points, including two free throws in the closing seconds to lift host Deptford over Glassboro, 43-41.

Ariana Slaughter recorded her fifth double-double of the season, producing 10 points and 13 rebounds, as host Salem slipped past Schalick, 35-32.

Sara Kramer came through with 12 points, six steals and four assists, and host Clearview played shutdown defense on Cumberland leading scorer Lauren Whelan in cruising to a 40-9 win.

Olympic. Christiana Ogunsami's three points in overtime enabled Cherry Hill West to complete its 38-35 come-from-behind victory at Camden.

Kendashia Myles and Liz Rodgers teamed up for 22 points and 20 rebounds in Camden Catholic's 47-39 win over Cherry Hill East. Darby Festa's game-high 23 points paced the visiting Cougars.

Brianna Wylie (17 points) led nine Lenape players in the scoring column, as the host Indians waltzed past Winslow Township, 61-35.
