The Chargers, who beat Camden Catholic by 30-24 at the Virginia Duals on Jan. 14, handed the visiting Irish a 35-24 Olympic Conference setback in a battle of two of South Jersey's top teams.

The Chargers (12-2) clinched the National Division title by breaking out to leads of 16-6 and 20-9 with key decisions from Brandon Keller at 138 pounds and Dominick Ruggiero at 160.

The Irish (14-5) battled back within 23-21 as Jarred Alwan had a pin at 220, and Joe Mazzochette (195 pounds) and Tyler McBride (106) won close decisions. Pins by Joey DiMartino (113) and Virgilio (126) sealed the verdict.

Also in the Olympic, Cherokee whipped visiting Bishop Eustace, 62-13, as Joseph Lemerise notched a 16-0 technical fall at 132 pounds.

Burlington County. Northern Burlington set the stage for a Feb. 1 Liberty Division title showdown with Moorestown by winning, 45-30, at Burlington Township. The Greyhounds won every wewight from 152 to 285 pounds, including first-minute falls by John Konopka (182) and Zak Pate (195) among six pins.

Delran got a 17-second pin from Marquis Jackson at 220 pounds, and Jordan Weaver (120) and Anthony Lehmann (145) added falls to a 37-31 win over visiting Rancocas Valley.

Colonial. Collingswood claimed a 38-28 win at Haddon Heights with help from Zane Chunko's 2-1 decision at 126 pounds, and major decisions by Tony Giancola (113) and Alex Irwin (138).

Boys' Basketball

Donte Vaughn raced the length of the court after making a steal and scored at the buzzer to giving the streaking Triton boys' basketball squad a 48-46 Olympic Conference thriller of visiting Camden Catholic.

The Mustangs, who lost their first four games this season before winning six of the last seven, rallied from seven points down in the final period and tied the game on Dylan Daniluk's three with 1 minute, 30 seconds left.

With the Irish holding for a final shot, Vaughn (19 points) stole the ball and drove for a layup to break the deadlock. Brian Keller had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Triton, and played solid defense on Kyle Green in the final period.
