The Camden boys' basketball team continued its midseason resurgence, getting a monster low-post performance from Ajwan Leaming in cruising to a 67-40 home win over crosstown rival Woodrow Wilson on Saturday.
Leaming scored 13 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and blocked four shots for the Panthers, who took control of the Olympic Conference game with a 32-16 surge over the second and third quarters.
Tavaris Headen (17 points) and Josh Devine-Minus (10) also reached double digits for the 7-6 Panthers, who received scoring from 10 players in winning for the fifth time in their last six outings.
Burlington County. Connor Lindsay saved his best for last, scoring 12 of his 20 points in a 24-15 fourth-quarter spree that made host New Egypt a 61-55 winner over Holy Cross.
Tyler Barnes chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors. Lloyd Smith's 19 points led the Lancers, who appeared in control on the strength of their 19-9 third-quarter run.
Cape-Atlantic. Dontae Stubbs (13 points) passed to Tamar Jackson (10) for the winning layup at the buzzer, lifting host Bridgeton over Millville, 50-48.
Jackson combined with Jeffrey Stevenson for 19 rebounds and four blocks, while Stubbs teamed with Damien McClough for seven assists. Aaron Cox, who tied the score with 13 seconds left, joined Allen Gaskins in scoring 11 points each for the Thunderbolts.
Wildwood Catholic converted 25 of 32 free throws - while host Lower Cape May shot 10 for 12 from the line - in claiming a 57-52 road win. James Baumgardner had a game-high 15 points for the Crusaders.
Nonleague. Top-ranked Eastern escaped with a 43-38 victory at Williamstown, as Mike Wilson (14 points) and Matt Klinewski (13) helped the Vikings survive a late rally.
Armond Foster knocked down six shots from beyond the arc and was 6-for-6 at the foul line in scoring 28 points, and Sam Rose snared a dozen rebounds as host Camden County Tech throttled Gateway, 69-26.
Justin Williams (19 points), Rahim Bunch (18), Khari Harley (16) and Trey Jones (13) supplied plenty of firepower for Egg Harbor Township in a 71-54 triumph at Lincoln Charter in Allentown, Pa.
West Deptford rode the balanced scoring of Tim Fair (12 points), Justin Hansen (11) and Tommy Jakubowski (10) to a 62-30 rout at Maple Shade.
Matt Bosch bulled his way inside to 19 points and 10 rebounds in Ocean City's 58-42 victory at Collingswood.
Trevor Tassi (22 points) and Adin Borden (16) had the hot hands for host Audubon, which was on the verge of its second win of the season until GAMP went on a 19-11 game-ending run to steal away a 62-58 victory.
Girls' Basketball
Natalya Lee (15 points) and Lauren Moses (11) combined for 15 points in a pivotal 21-8 second-half run that propelled top-ranked Rancocas Valley past Penn Charter, 54-46, in the ISAA Invitational at Rutgers-Camden.
Burlington County. Fifth-ranked Holy Cross opened the game on a 21-4 run and didn't look back in burying visiting New Egypt, 49-15, in an interdivision clash.
Aliyah Jeune (15 points), Alliya Butts (12) and Amanda Offenback (10) carried the Lancers, who have won four of their last five games.
Olympic. Kamari Talley totaled 25 points and 17 rebounds, Chanelle Perry dealt five assists to go with her 19 points, and Kimberly Roy fashioned a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double as Woodrow Wilson crushed host Camden, 76-23. Lynette Payton provided a highlight for the Panthers by grabbing a dozen boards.
Cape-Atlantic. Lauren Holden scored 25 and dished out four assists in Lower Cape May's 51-39 home win over Wildwood Catholic.
Nonleague. Maddie Betley picked up 11 of her 19 points in a 20-9 first-quarter blitz, putting Haddonfield on track for a 57-32 romp at Bishop Eustace.
Hayley Raymond (15 points) and Catherine Senopoulos (13) rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Bulldogs. Alyssa Cirrucci scored 13 for the Crusaders, who were dealt their worst loss of the season.
Tarryn Bundy and Danielle McKeown scored 10 points apiece for West Deptford, which took over in the second half to pull away from visiting Kingsway, 35-24. Maddie Flynn had a game-high 12 points for the Dragons.
Julia Duggan led all scorers with 20 points and Emily Gillian drained a pair of three-pointers in a 17-5 third-quarter surge, allowing Ocean City to finish off host Collingswood, 51-27. The Panthers' Ellie O'Neill posted 12 points and four assists.
Valerie Pineiro poured in 21 points, Tyler Frankowski ruled the lane with 15 points and 18 rebounds, and host Audubon parlayed a 25-15 second half into a 43-36 come-from-behind win over Deptford.
